Domaine Du Grand Lauron : entre Avignon et Aix en Provence (Parc régional du Lubéron Vaucluse) — Hotel in Apt

We recently had our wedding at this venue in September. While the venue itself is incredibly beautiful and the wedding went smoothly (thanks to our amazing French wedding planner), we were disappointed by the venue owners’ communication and handling of key issues, which caused unnecessary stress. About a month before our wedding, the venue owners informed us they would be on vacation for a week but then stopped responding altogether for an entire month—ignoring every email, call, message, and voicemail from us and our wedding planner. This lack of communication created significant anxiety, especially as we needed prompt replies for critical details like vendor deliveries and logistics. My husband and I were just two days away from leaving to meet our families in France when they finally answered, without any apology for the delay. The day we arrived at venue two days before our wedding the owner informed us the previous wedding guests had mistakenly gone into our wine supply for our wedding and that we should "probably go check". While this was not their fault they had been sitting on this information for over a week and could have left us in a bad situation. Luckily they had not taken too many of our bottles. The morning after our wedding, the owners were also notably rude to my French in-laws regarding cleaning arrangements, even though we’d hired a cleaning crew to ensure the venue was left spotless and we were all working together to leave the venue as it was found. The only time I was met with a smile was as we were leaving when the venue owner asked me to “tag them on Instagram” for their own promotion. I understand that weddings can be demanding, but a lack of communication, respect, and warmth—especially in this industry—made us feel like a transaction rather than...

We are family of five – parents with 3 daughters and looked for the place to discover Provence. We chose this place for the excellent location – maximum 1-hour drive to any place in Provence. Initially we planned to book separate apartment, but everything was booked so we took two bed and breakfast rooms (“Fanny” and “Manon”) located together on the same floor. All my family really liked the place. The rooms weren’t new but very good maintained and good looking. At the web site it wasn’t stated that rooms have an air conditioner, so we didn’t expect it but found that both rooms have an air conditioner. Breakfast was very nice and every day you can decide what time you want to have it. Pool is excellent – every evening after coming back we spent couple of hours in the pool to chill out after very hot August days. There was summer kitchen with all required appliances to prepare dinner. Additional word about the wonderful hosts – Oliver and Mireille. Thank you for great time we spend in your place! They are very nice and very welcome people, always with smile and ready to help with everything. Oliver speaks good English (not common in this area), he gave us a lot of good advises what places to visit and how to get to those places. I have seen several negative recent comments – our experience was completely opposite. For example, I asked when to pay for the stay – Oliver said that this’s not urgent...

Nous venons d'y fêter nos 40 ans, avec mon frère jumeau, durant 3 jours, lors du week-end de la Pentecôte, en compagnie de nos 40 meilleurs amis. Pour l'occasion, nous avions privatisé le domaine. Un endroit magnifique, magique, avec de nombreux espaces extérieurs parfaitement entretenus pour des ambiances différentes: piscine, cuisine d'été, étang, grande terrasse couverte, cour intérieures, grande salle, terrain de pétanque... Un lieu apaisant et bucolique et néanmoins raffiné où chacun pourra y trouver son compte. Nos invités étaient ravis et nous aussi. Seul bémol : la personnalité atypique du propriétaire, difficile à cerner, qui est du genre lunatique, tantôt charmant tantôt râleur, et qui a une certaine faculté à "oublier" ce qu'il nous a dit la veille. Voici quelques exemples... Si vous comptez passez de la musique et faire appel à un DJ, attention, il vous dit "oui sans problème, même à l'extérieur sous réserve d'être raisonnable" mais une fois sur place, même dans la salle avec la porte fermée, il n'hésite pas à venir menacer le DJ de couper le courant parce que la musique est soit disant trop forte alors que le son était plus que raisonnable... Il a même jusqu'été à lui dire que l'une des vitres de sa maison était en train de se briser!!! De même, nous avions pris un prestataire pour faire un méchoui dans la cour, l'emplacement avait été validé en amont avec le propriétaire et pourtant, ce dernier est venu voir notre prestataire pour lui signifier qu'il n'avait pas le droit de se mettre à cet emplacement avec sa remorque aménagée. Il était convenu qu'il nous mette un barbecue à disposition le dimanche soir mais lorsque nous lui avons demandé où il se trouvait, il nous a dit que c'était trop tard et il a fallu que nous insistions pour le récupérer! Enfin, il a attendu que la piscine soit "bondée" le dimanche matin avec nos invitées féminines en maillot de bain pour décider d'aller nettoyer la piscine qui n'avait pas été utilisée la veille et qui était donc très propre encore... un peu envahissant et inapproprié! Nous étions en gestion libre et pourtant il a voulu donner son avis sur tout et ne s'est pas gêné pour critiquer ouvertement nos choix et nos prestataires alors que ceux-ci (sympathiques, compétents, respectueux et professionnels) ont parfaitement répondu à nos attentes. En tant que professionnel, il doit avoir un devoir de réserve et conserver une certaine neutralité ce qui n'a malheureusement pas été le cas. En bref, un propriétaire au 1er abord sympathique mais en réalité pénible et qui n'est pas honnête. En effet, il y a eu un décalage entre le discours tenu en amont et sa façon de se comporter sur place. Heureusement, ces désagréments, bien que regrettables, ne nous ont pas trop gâcher la fête et empêcher de partager un moment privilégié avec nos proches. Nos 40 ans ont quand même été...
