Les Chalets Pyreve — Hotel in Argelès-Gazost

Beautiful location above the city but with very clear limitations in equipment, cleanliness and service

We stayed there for five days in September 2024 and would like to share our personal experiences:

We had rented the chalet BEDERET, which is beautifully situated on the mountain far above Luz. As the building is very old, it is unfortunately dark. The living room on the first floor has only one small window. No problem in summer weather, as you can sit outside, but unfortunately in bad weather you sit inside in the dark. The lighting and furnishings are unfortunately - with the exception of the apparently renovated bathroom - very simple, old, worn and put together from various remnants. Unfortunately, in our opinion, this applies to all the furnishings from the couch to the cutlery.

Basically not nice, not up to French standards, but acceptable for a few days' vacation if there weren't additional problems with cleanliness and service:

The chalet is cleaned by the renters themselves after departure. This particular model, which is atypical in other European countries, only works of course if the owner ensures that the cleaning is carried out properly and has it professionally cleaned if there are any discrepancies.

Unfortunately, this was not the case with us. The toilet was extremely dirty, there were crumbs and a slimy substance on the dining table and the rancid cutlery, plates, glasses and cups were not really clean.

Shit happens and on the evening of our arrival we started cleaning the chalet ourselves so that we could use the toilet and cook dinner. When cleaning the kitchen and living area, we found a lot of mouse droppings, which didn't really help our vacation mood. But it was clear that the place hadn't been cleaned properly for a while. The fact that there were numerous large and small spiders in the house cannot be criticized to the owner, as we had booked a chalet in the middle of the forest.

Of course, we immediately informed the owner and the conciergerie service / key management in Luz by email about the problems. And now comes the real hammer: To date there has been NO response, NO solution, NO apology. During our vacation we also spoke again personally with the conciergerie service/key management in Luz, but despite the personal contact, the owner didn't seem to care and the complaints were ignored.

So unfortunately 0 points for service. How would we have fared if we had had problems with the electricity, water or sewage? The chalet really is in the middle of nowhere. I don't even want to imagine the service to the customer in these cases.

In the end, it's not surprising that we still haven't received an invoice, let alone the rental contract, despite asking. But that is probably of more interest to the...

Se réveiller tous les matins avec une vue magnifique au milieu des montagnes et sur la Vallée de Luz.....fabuleux. De superbes balades à faire au départ du chalet dont une qui nous amène à une cascade avec des cuvettes dans lesquelles les enfants peuvent se rafraîchir....une ferme non loin qui confectionnent des produits locaux.....une vrai bulle dans laquelle nous nous reconnectons à la nature, un chalet chaleureux....Voilà, c est ça que nous permet cet endroit. Merci pour les échanges agréables concernant la location. Une chose à prendre malgré tout en compte est la grande promiscuité des deux chalets ce qui fait que nous avons dû composer avec le groupe voisin....par chance ils étaient...

Nous avons passés un week-end super, le chalet est très bien agencé et super équipé (le poêle à bois :magique) Nous sommes hôtes à biarritz et nous vous assurons que votre bien est au top panorama magnifique ,calme, proximité de tout; UN TOUT PETIT BÉMOL «  LES CHÈVRES !!!!!! » ADORABLES ,mais quel désastre elles nous ont crépis tout le tour de la maison ,voir photos,bonjour l’état de la voiture et le nettoyage du chalet Mais nous reviendrons avec plaisir NB : svp mettre à disposition un jet d’eau pour pouvoir nettoyer les...
