COMPLETELY RUINED MY VACATION. HVAC fell from high up on the wall and almost killed us. It was never installed properly in the first place and a huge safety risk to anyone at the hotel. How do you expect to be on vacation when anything randomly would fall apart?! It would be a major bruise, even concussion and blood loss, and since there’s no doctor on the island it could be very dangerous. How they dealt with this situation was also horrendous. First they tried to make it right by offering us a private tour and a bottle of wine. That is what you offer to someone on honeymoon, not someone who almost got killed. Then they had maintenance in the room to glue the HVAC filter back up despite us telling them not to try to fix it so soon because it would be impossible. They used some strong glue, and then the room then was full of irritating smell and our eyes were tearing up and we had to move late at night for it. They moved us to a new villa, which had a dysfunctional bright flashing light outside in the courtyard, and a curtain that doesn’t properly close. The new villa was also missing some of the amenities (inferior water kettle, missing wall decoration, cheap looking white light) which made me seriously question how low and inconsistent their construction standard is. So we had to ask for a third room. As for compensation to say sorry, it took two days for them to get back to us on the refund because the manager had no authority and had to go to the head office. Because we paid for an all inclusive package and we did all the tours already, they really can’t do much. We asked for a spa but they refused quoting that it’s a different company. Now packing again through the middle of our vacation that we are paying almost six figures for and with no room to go even a few hours after my request, the vacation has completely been ruined and I want to end it short and go back already. Most of the staff’s hospitality and service is great before the accident happened, but with an issue this big and such poor crisis management abilities, this hotel is a no go for anyone who wants the minimum standard of travelling.

Absolutely heart wrenching leaving the Brando after our honeymoon. If i could elect to give 10 stars i would! Tetiaroa is a special place, a global example for regenerative tourism. The staff from the hotel and the Tetiaroa society are amazing. Bobs bar run by Florian, Thomas, Paul and Rachel is a special place to have lunch and a cocktail, the team have great chemistry and serve great drinks. Head guide Tihoni, flanked by Teva and Anne-Laure from the Tetiaroa society were amazing hosts and educators of the local biodiversity, history and sustainability of the island. There is so much to discover. The Brando and Tetiaroa are a special and spiritual place, you will swim with fish and sharks like our parents generation did before, you will hear birds sing all day like it was the case when we were children. The room, food and inclusive element really makes it a special place. You can of course elect to relax and enjoy your lazy holiday but i encourage all to take advantage of everything this beautiful and unique atoll has to offer. Words simply do not do it justice. We will be back for sure! Maruuru Tetiaroa! Maruuru Brando!

Absolute heaven!! The Brando is definitely worth a stay, it’s top luxury!! It’s obviously very expensive but totally worth it! The flight over is quick (about 30 mins) and easy. I was greeted warmly by the manager and staff and was taken on a tour of the resort. I was dropped off at my room which was a huge suite with a beautiful private pool and beach area. The room was massive with a bedroom, sitting area and office room. The bathroom was spectacular too!! Very large and has an outdoor tub! Everything was super clean and gorgeous. I did several of the included activities and they were all fun and well led by nice and knowledgeable staff members. The food was all so so so so good. I ate so much. Everything was delicious. The island is approximately 2 miles around and I ran around it several times, it’s a very beautiful path!! There is nothing the Brando can’t do!! Definitely stay here everyone!!

If you're fortunate to visit Tetiaroa, you will bear witness to an absolutely magical and mesmerizing atoll and its collection of islets. From the Queens Bath to the turquoise lagoon surrounding Onetahi, its no wonder that Marlon Brando bought this island to entertain his friends in paradise, and celebrities often frequent. In fact, we ran into a certain acclaimed Batman actor and his family during our stay.

My family of 4 stayed (8yo and 10yo) here for 6 nights during our kids' Spring Break. We arrived via Air Tetiaroa which is the only airline that serves the island, flying in and out of a private terminal at PPT. Upon landing, we were greeted by a Polynesian warrior blowing a conch shell and Sergey, the guest manager, whisked us off in a golf cart to give us a tour of the property and The Brando's amenities.

We were given Villa 209, a 1 bedroom with a separate living area and separate office/media room. The bathroom was large, featuring an outdoor bathtub. This proved to be a great setup as our kids slept in the media room as there was a sofa with a trundle bed. Every villa has magnificent views and features direct beach access along with a plunge pool. There's also an outdoor, shaded dining area which we used to have family breakfast on occasions. We did the All Inclusive which allowed us to have meals and drinks at any of the venues at any time as well as room service except from 10p-6a. The All Inclusive also provides for daily spa treatments and excursions and lagoon school for our kids.

Pros Excursions. The excursions, particularly the Sea Kayaking Tour, led by Tetiaroa Society guides were phenomenal as they take you to some amazing spots and share their insights on the ecology and history. Lagoon School is purposely not a traditional Kids Club as they also take the kids on environmental tours. My kids loved the reef snorkeling. Venues. As others noted the Villas and Venues are all tastefully done. Manu bar is a great place for a cocktail before or after dinner as their mixologists are great. People. The staff are all just genuinely friendly and sincerely go out of their way to make folks feel comfortable. My wife enjoyed playing ping pong with Oliver, and my kids loved grating coconuts. Privacy. There's a true sense of privacy as no one is intrusive, and after taking in the Tahitian mana, you truly come away relaxed.

Cons Food. The food at all venues or via room service is good. We never had a bad dish. Beachcomber is good for breakfast. Nami has nice teppanyaki. That said, there wasn't one (or two) memorable or exceptional meals. For the caliber of this resort, I would expect some phenomenal cuisine and/or more local flavors. By comparison, The Nautilus Maldives had sensational food as they had a well renown chef. Service. While the staff was extremely nice, the service was woefully inconsistent. It would take 45-1hr to get breakfast even if we were the only ones at Beachcomber. Similarly, after making reservations for excursions and dinners, the printout of the week was completely wrong and had to be adjusted multiple times. They said that they were going to book our Covid testing for our return but they never did, so I did it online. I suspect some of the issues were a result of communication (English to French), but I later learned that they are having trouble hiring more staff. And, they don't even have a GM as the individual who manages the Intercontinental hotels in the area is serving as their GM. Transit Hotel (Intercontinental). This place is a dump and a complete let down for folks visiting The Brando (see separate review). It shouldn't even be an option.

Given the ease of traveling from California (direct flights from LAX and SFO), I would definitely consider revisiting as its far superior to any place in Hawaii. But, to be deemed a marquee property, they need to make some...

Just finished our stay at the Brando. I really wanted to love it but when you have been to places like Miavana in Madagascar or Soneva Jani or Soneva Kiri, this hotel fell short. It’s like trying on the most lovely and expensive wedding gown and then looking at cheaper versions…it’s not the same. Unfortunately, for the Brando is that it cost the same at the hotels above and delivered an inferior product. No butler, no included surprise specialty curated experiences, no cook whatever you want to eat, no cultural experience, less activities, and a lack of attention to detail that you expect when you are paying this much money. They did allow you to add on with a couples spa experience and private dinner. We did both. They were nice but I recommend passing on the $2,200 massages with mediocre therapists and stick with the daily free ones included in your stay. The private dinner was cute on the beach and the staff was lovely. It just feels a bit much to pay $3k for filet mignon and vegetables. The food lacked any wow factor. I rather save the money and eat at Alchemist. ||As for what we did like, the location. It was easy to get to from Ca and the scenery is beautiful. The aqua blue water is gorgeous. The staff was kind and helpful. Sitting at Jack’s bar was cool and the fresh pastries/spread every morning at breakfast were delicious. It really is a chill place. If you want to just be and not have many activities, this is your place. If you like adventure and activities, try one of the places above. There really wasn’t much to do other than snorkel, swim, kayak, and chill. ||As for the room, it was ok. The location on the beach was lovely. The bed was very firm and we did sleep well. However, in the morning our backs hurt. In the world of sexy bathrooms, this one was a 5. The toilet had a funny sewer smell that annoyed my husband. There was an outdoor bathtub that was cool but it only fit one person, unless you are both very petite. ||Final thoughts, do the a la carte package instead of the all-inclusive. I think we would have saved money that way. Order the burger at the bar, it’s yummy. If you have never been to North Island resort in the Seychelles or the Miavana’s of the world, take what I said above with a grain of salt. You are trying on a second rate wedding dress but you won’t know the difference and the Brando still looks...
