Hôtel "Chez Marie" 3 étoiles : Lofts, Suites Appart, Chambres & Spa — Hotel in Aurillac

We were looking for a stop over during a trip to the Languedoc and had never visited the Auvergne. Through the Logis book we settled on Le Clos des Gentianes. Pailherols is well off the beaten track and at times we wondered whether we had done the right thing as we wound our way up and down mountainsides. But worth every turn when we arrived at the small hamlet where the hotel is situated at 4500 feet and found that the same family pretty well runs the village with the Auberge des Montagnes, Le Chalet de Jean and Le Clos des Gentians. Our room at Le Clos was excellent with its own terrace facing a small lake. We ate at the Auberge and had a splendid and well priced meal which was beautifully served and presented. The breakfast was exceptionally good served in a huge basket on the private terrace. Our only regret was that we didn't realise until we were leaving that there is a large indoor pool and spa which is part of the complex - we'd have certainly used them! Excellent. Stopped over for one night while touring. Quality superior accomodation .

On the night we stay, dinner was served at the main auburge hotel which was a pleasant 200mtr walk to the centre of the village.

The Chez Marie is much more than an annexe to the main hotel. It is an imposing building all by itself with a lake and stunning vistas towards the south and Lot.

It has its own restaurant which at the time we stayed was only open Monday and Tuesday evenings.

Breakfast is ordered the evening before using a door hanging card and delivered to your from at the time choosen. It's was more than we could eat and impeccably presented in a picnic basket...

This hotel was a very pleasant surprise. The rooms are big and spacious with a simple but romantic twist. The breakfast, brought to the room, is so copious and rich that we didn't need any lunch afterwards. ||The owners are very friendly and welcoming. This is the type of place where you feel at home immediately and you don't want to leave!||The restaurant offers an extremely good choice and they even catered for all my "especial requests" which they remembered from one day to another. ||The indoor swimming pool and spa were also very warming.||||This is the kind of place that I would recommend for a romantic weekend in the mountains.
