This year three of us rented La Ferme aux Charmes for 10 days. Last year there were four of us for a week. We again had a great time. We used the gite as a base for visiting battlefields and museums in the area. ||||Sandrine & her family are great. Producing fresh food from the farm, run by her husband. Fresh milk and home made yogurt, gooseberry pie and jams. The bedrooms and en suite facilities are really good. It is a very quiet spot in the countryside, which is just what we wanted. ||||This year we visited Verdun (WWI), Bastogne (WWII Battle of the Bulge), Vimy Ridge (WWI), Ramillies and Malplaquet (Marburian battles), as well as a Fete Gallois at Potterne and Vauban fortresses all over the area. We also visited Marche aux pouces near by as well. Very close to La Ferme aux Charmes is the line of blockhouses that tried to stop the advance of Rommel and his tanks in 1940. ||||Sandrine is happy to cook a meal, with wine etc, which we asked for again. A great location, lovely...
Read moreMy third visit in seven years, and this delightful accomodation just goes from strength to strength. Wonderful spacious bedrooms, with lounge, dining room and kitchen; outside and inside eating areas in addition. Excellent amenities and games for children and adults alike. The bedrooms are cool and airy and the bedrooms are all ensuite with excellent showers and separate toilets. The hosts are wonderful and with your own fridge and cooker you can eat as and when you like. Excellent home produce at breakfast, all amid charming countryside and handily placed for exploring the rich history of the area as well as the rolling countryside. Highly recommended. Some of the questions re elevators etc are NOT applicable; this is gorgeous rooms on a...

I am looking forward to meeting the cows and their little calves after...
