My husband and I stayed at this lovely B&B just a few minutes from Mont St. Michel, France. To say it was spotless doesn't even come close. There was not a speck of dust on any surface, not a single piece of lint on the sheets, the shower looked like it had never been used before, and the dining area was ready for a photo shoot it was so perfect. I later discovered that the friendly gentleman who runs the place (with his wife, who was away during our visit) is a retired nurse and had my Aha moment. :) The dining room is downstairs where he served us eggs from his own chickens, his own homemade jam, his handmade yogurt (Very Good), fresh baguettes, fresh croissants and pain au chocolate (chocolate croissants), with honey from a nearby friend. There was also charcuterie and cereal and of course coffee and tea. The table wouldn't hold it all! I was very happy as I'm someone who needs some protein in the mornings and that's not always offered at a B&B in France.||From the B&B to the parking lot at Mont St. Michel took us 13 minutes. It's not a long distance at all, BUT in this area the roads are narrow and winding and it was rainy for us. Keep in mind that this is still a small town even though the Mont is visited by hordes of people. That adds greatly to its charm, but if you don't plan on eating on the Mont, you might want to make dinner reservations early as the restaurants fill quickly. Also, bring a jacket and if you don't want to be wet all day, a rain poncho is not chic, but sure does help. The Mont is too crowded to make navigating with an umbrella practical.||We slept soundly on a great mattress. All was quiet and very peaceful. I wanted to spend more time in the really sweet sitting room upstairs that was loaded with books and games and had a view of the Mont in the distance, but sadly we had only allowed one night. I wish we could have stayed longer. The pictures online are accurate, but they don't really show the charm of this place.||Fred is a gracious host. I'm thrilled we were able to stay with him. It felt more like a visit with new friends than a B&B, which was exactly the experience I...
Read moreWe stayed one night at the end May, while cycle touring.||||The room faced south away from Mont St-Michel, but there is a sitting area with a partial view of the Mont. The room was large, and clean, with a working TV, separate en suite shower & toilet, and a fair sized bed, and other furniture. There were no complementary toiletries in the room, which may not be what you expect, but the towels were fluffy and the bed linen was clean.||||There is a shared kitchen if you want to make your own dinner with microwave, hob, utensils and pots and pans.||||If you are travelling by bike you can store it in the garage.||||The building is modern and purpose built but the rooms are all on the first floor (i.e. up one flight of stairs), so not wheel chair accessible. It's nice enough but a bit devoid of character - but that does mean that there are no strange features or constraints that get in the way when you convert a building from one purpose to another.||||The breakfast was severed between 8 and 9 am and was on a large table with other guests - which may not be what you want if you want a quite life! The bread was home made (from a machine) and was okay, the home made jams were overcooked and you needed a knife and fork to eat them. The home made crepe were okay but not the best I've ever had. While I asked for tea it never arrived.||||There is nothing drastically wrong with the place, and plenty that is right, but it's missing a soul. It's a perfectly okay if you want a clean basic B&B near the...
Read moreL’Aurore de la Baie is located in the village of Huisne-sur-Mer, about 11 km from the parking lots at Mont St. Michel. The B&B has on-site parking for guests. It is in a private and peaceful location close to Mont St. Michel. When we arrived, Fred was thoughtfully wearing a mask. He used extra care with his guests, which was appreciated. Our room was nice sized, clean, and comfortable. We had an extra bedroom which we used to arrange our luggage. The breakfasts were very good and featured local products. These were some of the best baguettes and croissants on our 3-week trip to France. We only had a chance to meet Fred’s wife once, Aurore, but she was as friendly and helpful as Fred! They provided us with an incredible restaurant recommendation. Fred convinced us that following our tour of the Mont (touring the Mont takes about a half-day), that we should visit St. Malo, which is a...
