Maison Bersane — Hotel in Béziers

My wife and I stayed there whilst visiting the area and feel very lucky to have found Maison Bersane. |The welcome was very warm, the place was an old house that has been sympathetically converted to a B&B. I'm reluctant to call it a B&B because the standard and facilities were closer to a hotel, except the service was friendly and felt very personal. The gardens and pool were large and beautifully maintained.|Having arrived late afternoon we asked if it was possible to eat there - normally this needs to be booked in advance but the lady who dealt with us (I assume the owner) said she could provide a meal.|We started with a Kir each made with Crème de violette, which was beautiful, accompanied by an "amuse bouche" of small tomatoes in oil. The entrée was a tomato tart made with puff (or was it flaky) pastry, absolutely gorgeous. The main course was "daube provencale", which I can best describe as a beef casserole with lovely sauce and potatoes, followed by fresh strawberries that were small and full of flavour.|We both agreed that it was among the best meals we have ever had in France.|All that, plus 2 beers each, cost us 65 Euros in total.|We didn't use the swimming pool but it looked good and other guests who were using it certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves.|The breakfast was orange juice, 2 slices of each of 3 different breads - the 2 I had were really good, a pain au chocolat and croissant each and we were offered (but declined) yoghurt.|There was a box with a wide selection of teas or coffee, and honey plus 3 types of jam were put on the table - if you are offered the home made Pear and Vanilla jam I thought it was marvellous.|You've probably gathered that I would 100% recommend this place. We stayed here in May 2014 to attend a wedding in Colombières-sur-Orb. Sardine & Bernard are wonderful hosts and cannot do enough for you. The rooms are beautifully furnished and are extremely comfortable. Breakfast is continental with home made jams and cake. Bernard speaks a little English and Sardine a little less but they try and communicate with a smile and all in all we managed very well. Bernard was very keen for us to see the area and supplied local maps and marked sights to see. If you ask they will be pleased to do an evening meal for you. A couple of cyclists arrived impromptu looking for accommodation and were welcomed. There is no where in the village to eat so they offered the couple the use of their outdoor barbecue equipment. The grounds are beautifully maintained and are a credit to the couple. We would highly recommend the accommodation and the area. There is a good cycling track (Haut-Languedoc former railway) which makes a lovely walk but could do with a few seats along the way to enjoy the views! O'largues is a beautiful village about 10km away and is worth a visit as is the Gorges Colombries. We loved the area and cannot...

Attention aux humeurs !!!||||Nous avions réservé pour une semaine.||||Nous avons prévenu d'une arrivée tardive avec confirmation écrite de l'hôte Mickael, que c'était d'accord en nous communicant les codes d'accès.||||Arrivés sur place avec mon conjoint, en rejoignant notre chambre sans bruit, Mickael nous a rejoint en furie, nous accusant d'être des cambrioleurs... ||||Il nous demanda de décliner notre identité ce que nous avons fait, nous a demandé nos pièces d'identité, que nous avons communiquées..||||Malgré tout il nous a hurlé dessus et je cite "convoqué dans son bureau"... ||||S'en est suivie 2heures de folie pure, ou nous avons subit mon conjoint et moi toutes les plaintes et reproches non justifiés, nous parlant de leur mauvaises expériences passées qui n'avaient rien à voir avec nous, nous refusant l'accès à la chambre, refusant de nous rembourser non plus et sans motif.. ||||A Minuit nous étions toujours dans le bureau des deux hôtes qui ont fini par se disputer entre eux.. ||||Nous avons profité de leur scène de ménage pour fuir..||||Je n'ai pas parlé pendant la quasi totalité de l'entretien, choquée de la scène qui se déroulait, mais ai subit à plusieurs reprises des commentaires graves tantôt sur mon apparence, tantôt sur le fait que je sois une femme, puis me méprisant en me disant que ce n'était pas la peine de pleurer (je précise que je ne pleurai pas, allez comprendre...!)||||Mon époux essayait de les convaincre pendant ce temps gentiment de ne pas réveiller leurs autres client par leurs haussements de voix !||||Nous ne savons toujours pas à ce jour, le motif d'un tel déferlement et de leur refus de nous loger...||||Eux même finissant par admettre qu'ils étaient au bout du rouleau et que nous avions bien fait tout ce qu'ils avaient demandé..||||Nous avons dû en pleine nuit trouver un autre hôtel en catastrophe à plus de 40mn du lieu, travaillant le lendemain matin voyageant pour affaire, et repayant évidemment une nouvelle réservation d'une semaine auprès d'un autre établissement...||||Les hôtes refusent de nous rembourser.||||Peut être sommes nous tomber sur un mauvais jour, cela peut arriver mais la scène était lunaire, très inquiétante et choquante ... ||||Le gite parait correct mais nous n'aurons malheureusement pas eu l'occasion d'en profiter ni d'en juger.||||Nous attendons un sursaut de lucidité des hôtes pour qu'ils procèdent au remboursement et que nous puissions clôturer cette mauvaise expérience...||||Nous ne développerons pas davantage, nous avons toutes les preuves permettant de démontrer la véracité de nos propos et réservons les détails de ces agressions verbales à la...
