L'Escale in Ubaye - Bed and Breakfast in Barcelonnette — Hotel in Barcelonnette

This is a really nice B&B in the beautiful Mercantour region (southern alps), very close to charming Barcelonnette.||It has a peaceful setting with a superb mountain view.||There is a nice swimmingpool (not heated!) for some relaxing moments after a day in the mountains.||We were offered a 2-person gite (more expensive than a B&B room). It's located separate from the main builing, next to the pool, so it's very quiet and private. The gite is very spacious (2 levels, bed- and bathroom upstairs), well equiped and clean. Nothing negative to say about it. Nice to have your own little terrace with a view.||Breakfast was included in the rate. It was ok, without being special. Not a lot of choice, but tasty chees and the pancakes we had one morning were delicious. They may serve a bit more of fresh orange juice (more than half a glass).||For people staying in a b&b room it's handy to have a fridge with cold drinks next to the pool.||The hosts do their best to give the guests a good time.||There's a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.||We absolutely recommend this B&B to anyone staying...

Easy to find property just as you enter Barcelonnette. Nicely nestled in greenery. Warm and friendly hosts who are happy ot converse in English to the best of their abilities. The property is very charming with a lovely dining area. Bed room was comfortable and the attached toilet bathroom were clean and fresh with local toiletaries. On the bed was a pack of DELICIOUS Pate de Fruits....You can enter when you want as the owners give you a key for the enterance that leads to the guest section of the rooms. I was in room Bonnette which had a 180 degree panorama of the mountains. Comfortable beds, nice linen and towels. Breakfast was very generous. Freshly squeezed orange juice in front of your eyes. The owners helped us choose a scenic route to the sea. We drove through Col de la Bonnette, where we experienced snowfall and snow covered mountains. Settling the bill with a credit card was welcomed. Recommendations for local restaurant were accurate. Will return with family next time. Warmly recommended for chilling out. A place run by people who are passionate about...

Nous avons passé un superbe séjour chez Julie et Michel dans leur magnifique résidence.||La chambre est spacieuse avec un très grand lit de 1,80m, une literie très confortable et une douche très agréable avec une température d'eau régulée, très agréable après des longues marches dans la neige. |La chambre est nettoyée tous les jours et le lit es refait, nous n'avions jamais vu cela dans une maison d'hôte, pourtant nous en avons fait beaucoup aux 4 coins de la France ! ||Côté ballades (nous ne faisons pas de ski), Michel nous a prodigué de bons conseils de rando et nous avons fait 2 parcours sublimes aux pieds de sommets. La vallée de l'Ubaye est vraiment une région magnifique.||Côté restauration, les petits déjeuners sont top avec un pain d'épice excellent préparé par Julie. Passons à la table d'hôte que malheureusement nous avons pu essayer qu'une fois car Julie étant infirmière libérale, elle a un emploi du temps bien chargé. |Etant très difficile sur la nourriture et n 'ayant pas été convaincue par les différents restaurants aux alentours, j'ai mis un peu la pression sur mes attentes. Julie s'en est très bien sortie avec un très bon menu et un repas excellent pour un prix je dois dire bien en dessous de sa valeur. |Si je peux juste ajouter un petit bémol (peut-être, est-ce un malentendu), nous aurions apprécié un apéro et du vin en supplément bien sûr, Michel ayant une cave magnifique valant le détour qu'il éclaire que le soir. Ceci dit, Michel nous a fait le plaisir de nous offrir un excellent verre de Génépi de sa recette.||C'est sûr que nous referons "escale en ubaye" sous peu, cette fois-ci en version été......
