This hotel has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I am due to travel to the hotel in June 2024 and I booked the family room in July 2023. I have four children so I have to book well in advance in order to find a room big enough to accommodate us. I have heard nothing from the hotel since booking and five months have passed. I gave them a courtesy message via booking.com to ask about the configuration of the beds in the room, only to have a reply that my room has been cancelled and no explanation as to Why. |So I rang the hotel and the manager/owner was so awfully rude and bluntly told me that my room had been cancelled and couldn’t give me a reason why. So I said to him, what would’ve happened if I had turned up with my four children, and there was no room for us, even though I have a booking confirmation number.|He made up some excuse and said that he had messaged to say that it had been cancelled and that the room shouldn’t have been booked in the first place. So I asked for proof of this email/message and he hung up the phone.|As a family of six, we are now stuck as we cannot find another hotel for the D-Day celebrations as it’s so busy. We have booked and paid for our ferry crossings. |Do not book this hotel. It seems that they can just cancel your room as and when they like and do not care. I would’ve given zero stars if there...
Read moreWe stayed here as a school group for 4 nights whilst travelling with 'Select travel'. The chateau staff were extremely helpful and friendly towards both the staff and children. The rooms were very clean, all with ensuite facilities and the staff had coffee/ tea making facilities too. There was a continental breakfast served each morning in our own dining room with freshly baked croissants or pain au chocolat, a variety of cereals and yoghurt. We were provided with demi baguettes and an assortment of salami, ham, cheese , tomato and lettuce to create our own packed lunches which was perfect for the children. Added to that was a packet of crisps, biscuits or cake and a variety of fruit and a bottle of water. Supper was three courses each evening, all ingredients were fresh and everyone ate well each evening. They catered well for those with dietary needs. One night we had a campfire and they provided hot chocolate and marshmallows, another we had a taster of frog's legs and snails. We also had a bowling trip. The chateau is within easy reach of the d-day landing beaches, the new British Normandy memorial , various museums, the Bayeux tapestry and Mont St Michel. It was a great place to stay and we all felt very well...
Read moreWow! What an amazing chateau for a school trip! There is more than enough space for our boys to play football, French cricket, and all sorts of'made up' games. The accommodation for the staff and boys was very good. There are so many nearby places of interest, viz. Bayeaux (market and Bayeaux tapestry), Arromanches, the Normandy landing beaches, Overlord Museum, Pegasus Bridge, American Cemetry and many others where we paid our respects to the thousands of young men who lost their lives on the beaches and beyond in liberating France. Back at the chateau, Chef Thierry has to get a mention in this review for delicious meals throughout our five-day, four-night stay. His attention to detail in the presentation of the meals was commented upon by boys and staff alike. Nikita and all the other staff looked after the boys superbly. It was such a pleasure to be able to relax in the lounge after the boys had gone to bed. Thank you to all the staff at the Chateau du Baffy for the amazing manner in which you engaged with our boys and also us. You are a credit to the chateau and I wish you all the very best for the future. Good luck and do enjoy your breaks; you thoroughly deserve to be...
