Wow! From the very first moment we drove along the drive, and the Château sprang into view, we knew that this was going to be the perfect retreat.||The beautiful building has been lovingly & sensitively restored and is set in gorgeous grounds.||We received a lovely, warm welcome from Amal who then showed us to our beautiful room overlooking the gardens.||The owner, Andy, is also very amenable & friendly.||The room was big and luxurious AND there was a special heated toilet seat with personal wash. Quite a luxury.||Breakfast was superb - every morning Amal brought us a bowl of chopped fresh fruit and there was a really great selection of cereals, breads, meats, cheeses, croissants etc together with fruit juices, teas & coffee. It was a really delightful way to start the day in such beautiful surroundings.||The Château is actually quite easy to find - my advice would be to take the D9 from Carpiquet and then turn left onto the D33 towards Villers-Bocage. The gates to the Château are on the left about half a mile along the road just past an arch of trees.||Its position is perfect for exploring the Normandy coastline from Deauville right across to Le Mont St. Michel. The beautiful town of Bayeux is only about 6 miles away as well.||So, would we recommend it? Yes we would - 10/10 in every department.||We can't wait to go back next year.||Many thanks for a memorable...
Read moreWe spent three days biking in Normandy en route to Le Mont Saint Michel and this was our first stop. Chateau du Bu is beautiful and tucked away off the main roadway. It’s about 5k from Villers Bocage. It’s a bit hilly biking there but worth it. Andy, our host was so kind and hospitable. Our room was huge with a nice size bathroom and sitting area. The bed was a bit uncomfortable but the accommodations were pretty modernized and clean so that made up for it. Plus, the toilet seat was heated and that was awesome given we’d been on our bikes for 8 hours! He leant us a car to go in to town so we could have dinner as they only serve breakfast at the chateau. And what a breakfast! The grounds are beautiful and very quiet in the evening. I would highly recommend Chateau du Bu if you want something off the beaten track with close access to Bayeux and the DDay Beaches or Le Mont...
Read moreWe had the pleasure of staying here 2 nights with my family of 5. Although we travel a fair amount, typically we stay in hotels or small Airbnb’s which suit our family better. When we drove up I thought we’d made a wrong turn! This place is INCREDIBLE! If you look up French Chateau on Wikipedia it’s possible you might see a picture of this place!! We were met by Andy the owner who graciously showed us the property. The grounds are beautiful. The rooms immaculate and well appointed. 21st century amenities abound including WiFi, USB chargers, Netflix, etc. we opted by breakfast each morning which was a lovely continental style breakfast with various fresh breads, pastries, fruits, cereals, and excellent coffee. At night my wife and I wound down in the library with a glass of wine while our kids played outside. It was truly a magical experience and the highlight of our...
