Returning from a Gîte in the Dordogne, we couldn’t pass the chance to spend a couple of nights visiting Normandy beaches on the 72nd anniversary of the D-Day Landings. We chose this B&B (Chambre De Hôte) because it scored an incredible 9.9 on Booking.com. We were certainly not disappointed, as it proved to be an exceptional experience at a relatively modest price. ||||We stayed for two nights. Our host was charming and helpful, although her English was only just better than our French. She provided, for example, a local tourist guide that had all the information I needed to make the best out of our stay and my wife was delighted to learn that the market in Bayeux was on Saturday morning. Parking in market day is problematic so if you happen to have bikes on board you should cycle into town instead – it is only a few km away along quiet country lanes.||||Our room, on the first floor, was beautifully clean, spacious and well-appointed with a delightful attention to detail. This included fresh flowers daily plus all the usual things such as fridge, coffee making facilities, TV/DVD and fast free Wi-Fi. ||||Situated on the edge of a small village called Sully (and just near the village church) the house and gardens were tranquil and the whole ambience so relaxing. We genuinely felt refreshed and probably had a couple of the best night’s sleep in a long while! We also enjoyed some of the best continental breakfasts we can recall including delightful home baked items. We have already booked to come back in the autumn...
Read moreEverything at Le Petit Sully is just perfect. It's a dreamy historic house in an equally picturesque location. Furnished with antiques and well thought out details, every little corner and every little detail charms the pants off you. From the stunning etched water glasses in the super well appointed bathrooms via the wonderful smelling linen and towels and the antique monogrammed curtains to the vast selection of delicious homemade preserves at breakfast, not to mention the fresh flakey croissants and the homemade pancakes. The beds are comfortable, the views from the windows stunning. Bedrooms are very generous, there are coffee and tea making facilities and every day the madeleines alongside the coffee cups are replaced. Everything is pristine and the silver gleams. The owner is as delightful as her beautiful home and nothing is too much for her. It's obvious, she likes spoiling her guests. So much more than a B&B, staying here is an unforgettable experience and a delight from A to Z. The pretty town of Bayeux is closely and there is much to see and enjoy in the area. We stayed here to attend a wedding but I am sure we will return just for a calm retreat in the countryside. Only three hours drive from Paris, this place is the stuff that dreams...
Read moreThis B&B is extraordinary good. The owners are very welcoming, they made a lot of time for us, the breakfasts have nice surprises every morning, they helped us make day-programs of what to best visit based on our interests. They are very knowledgeable about where to visit what. The rooms are unique, very comfortable and very spacious, beautiful decorations with a lot of period features. The garden is a true joy: spacious, very mature trees, very quiet, and for rose-lovers a great discovery. We found with this B&B serenity, well-being, true hospitality, authenticity, great food, lots of culture, lots of beauty and above all human warmth. A must see is Port-en-Bessin 3 kms from the B&B: an intimate quiet port with very good restaurants. Walking on the wide, miles long and very quiet beaches of Omaha beach at 20 kms from the B&B is a unique and very impressive experience, also in the summer there are...
