This is an incredibly chic place to stay, offering boutique hotel quality with the friendliness and informality of a family business.
Tress and Patrick are convivial and charming hosts: Tress is hugely talented at interior design (every detail perfect from crisp sheets to elegant antiques in the room, a decent hairdryer, slippers and fluffy dressing gowns, proper wooden coat hangers, even a steamer for suitcase creased clothes ) and Patrick is an ace in the kitchen: do book for his superb dinner, you won’t eat better anywhere in the area, and it’s extremely well priced for the quality. Everything is fresh that day so you really must give 24 hours notice. Breakfasts are equally great, with fruit salad, yoghurts, meats, cheeses, croissants, brioche and baguettes. Arriving in the hot sunshine, late afternoon, we were invited to take a refreshing dip in the pool (elegant, comfy sunbeds, a shady space with a garden sofa and chairs, table tennis for once you’ve recovered your energy: a perfect place to relax and work on your tan), and Tress brought out a tray with delicious ice cold wine, a huge jug of cool water and good crisps to nibble on).
I can’t recommend Maison Hirondelle highly enough.
Lots of nice things to see in the neighbourhood, including one of Les Plus Beaux Villages, and perfectly situated for a restorative overnight pitstop (or more - I’d have a two night stopover next time) en route south. There are also a couple of Gites: again,...
Read morePretty Limousin village, ideal stopover en route from Lot to St Malo. Maison Hirondelles exceeded all expectations, wish we had stayed longer. Maybe their on-site gite next time, with some of the family - detatched cottage has two bedrooms, sleeps 5 and guests can use the pool and dine at the hotel if wished.||||Our room and en-suite bathroom (shower) in the beautifully-restored main house were both lovely; spacious with the highest quality furniture and fittings, pretty bed linen, fluffy towels and robes, nice toiletries, tea/coffee facilities with a good range of teas. The decor throughout was just perfect.||||And what a lovely welcome on a hot afternoon. Anthony carried our cases upstairs, Sarah called up 'Come down and have a drink on the house when you're ready'. Then there was time to enjoy the pool (chilly but Anthony thinks it's probably not worth installing heating) before an exquisite meal (wine included) taken on the terrace. Anthony has been a chef as well as a builder so really knows what he's doing at Maison Hirondelles.||||Ample buffet breakfast taken indoors likewise a real treat.||||Plenty of parking. Good advice from Anthony and Sarah on where to go for our last-minute shopping and plenty of tourist info for next time.||||All this at a budget price. Highly...
Read moreWe cant recommend this beautiful B&B enough. We stayed at Maison hirondelles which is set in a small village just outside of Bellac for 7 nights in April, we had booked a rented property in Bellac which was not to our expectations, Anthony and Sarah took us in with a Thirty minute notice. When we arrived we were greeted with a warm welcome, it was quite late and we had not eaten, Sarah invited us to join them and their family for an evening meal for which we we’re so grateful. We we’re then shown to our room which was spotlessly clean beautifully decorated with exquisite furnishings with high quality linen. ||The relaxed ambiance at the family meal that Sarah had prepared was wonderful, Harry Anthony and Sarah’s son was very attentive and kept the wine flowing nicely, we ate every night at the Maison hirondelles as Anthony was an excellent chef so the food was amazing I would go as far as to say Michelin star, nothing was to much trouble you were treated more as friends than guests, we couldn’t of received a more professional service at a Five star hotel, they really do go beyond what is expected of them to make your stay as comfortable as possible we can’t wait to return. Thank you Anthony Sarah Harry and Ebony for a wonderful stay we will definitely be...
