We live in the Dordogne departement only about 40 km from Saint Avit Senieur, but on one winter's day our furnace when on the blink. We decided to use that as excuse to get out of town and spend a night in the country. we could not have found a more congenial place. The accomodations are in the hosts's own house, located on a hilltop | affording a panoramic view of the surrounding slopes and the town of Beaumont in the distance. Staying at Britavit was more like spending a night with friends on their country estate. The dinner for 28 euros included an aperitif in the salon, where we joined our host and another couple, who were old friends of his. The meal itself was plentiful and irreproachable, served en famille with our host and hostess and the other charming guests. Lively conversation was encouraged by the excellent wine and even a very special digestif (all included). The price for the room included a sumptuous breakfast. We wished we could have stayed longer, but we had to get back to our cats and the...
Read moreThe family room turned out to be the most comfortable accommodation we experienced on our 10 day trip to Dordogne. We only needed a 1 night stay for our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) en route to another destination from Bergerac airport and this room was perfect - spacious, nicely renovated, modern bathroom in a countryside setting minutes from the village. Upon arrival and much to our delight, that Friday the village had an outdoor dinner, a concert, and an incredible light show projected onto the centuries old church, the show call "Murmures de Saint Avit Senieur", see http://dordogne-perigord-tourisme.fr/fr/les-murmures-de-saint-avit-senieur-1090.htm . Brigitte and Guy were very friendly and accommodating and did not hesitate to recommend various activities during our stay. Their truffle dog Dino even found a summer truffle in the woods during our stay, and Guy explained a bit about truffles to us. I highly recommend this B&B for any family exploring the beautiful...
Read moreWe visited Britavit for two nights, enjoying the table d'hote diner on the first evening, which after a long drive was exactly what we all needed. The diner was delicious with a lot of care and thought being put into the ethical sourcing of each ingredient. The homemade bread was amazing! Thank you for the tips on making bread, we shall most definitely give it a go! The venue itself was very clean, spacious and the rooms had all you could need. Incredibly quiet environment perfectly sound proofed, which meant we all slept like logs. Thank you for your kindness in sharing your experiences about the Dordogne and gorgeous meal...and breakfast! We would highly recommend Britavit to anyone looking for a slice of authentic Dordogne with a...
