My husband and I spent three wonderful nights here. Our hosts were so welcoming and thoughtful...no detail was overlooked. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and had a very comfortable king size bed. We were greeted every morning with a breakfast of fresh French bread and pastries, fruit, yogurt, homemade preserves and delicious coffee. As well, our host Kiek, offered eggs made to order. We ate in the charming dining room, although in the fine weather, a lovely outside dining area overlooking beautiful countryside is available. Additionally, a very comfortable living room complete with fireplace, and comfy couches is provided for relaxation (often accompanied by the two fluffy felines of the house!) We appreciated the many recommendations for exploring the Dordogne region's historical, culinary and vineyard delights. Maps, guide books and advice were happily dispensed. As a very special treat, our host, Kiek and her friend cooked a delicious dinner for us on our last evening. They joined us for dinner, and it was one of the highlights of our trip to France.||We highly recommend this beautiful oasis, for those travelling in the St. Emilion area. It is a tranquil and beautiful spot, with excellent accomodation ,food and many sights to visit within a short drive. Our only regret was having to leave...
Read moreThis is our second stay here and to be honest, we will never look for a different place to stay whenever we visit this area of France. The setting, the accommodation and the outstanding service from Kiek and Marriet combined to make our stay absolutely perfect.|||| The setting under the mulberry trees on the terrace always makes us feel so relaxed and at ease. If we want we can walk down the stairs to a superb swimming pool when the temperature gets a little warm.||||Every morning we start the day with a simple but delicious breakfast prepared by our hosts and always served with smiles and helpful suggestions to make our stay even better. For example, the suggestion of a restaurant nearby on our first evening proved to be inspired! Our hosts really know how to make the whole experience of staying with them something that makes our holiday really special. |||| We will again take away very happy memories of our stay here. I cannot imagine anything more relaxing than coming home to La Bastide after walking around a village or a vineyard or another delightful small town and sitting under the mulberry trees and playing Chromino over a glass of wine and sharing conversation with friends. Friends that now include our excellent hosts; Kiek...

The Bastide des Trémières run by the Dutch owner Kiek van Kempen was a perfect choice. The Bastide consists of historic buildings with tastefully decorated apartments which Kiek rents for vacationers and boasts of a terrace with a breathtaking view over the Dordogne valley. Kiek made a special lunch for our group: Entrée an excellent shrimp/avocado salad, followed by a very refreshing vitello tonnado and as dessert a tarte tatin with ice cream "fait maison". All this was served in lavish quantities (some of our group are not only gourmets but also gourmands). The accompaning wine from Château Moulin Caresse, which is Kiek's next door neighbour, perfectly rounded off our luncheon. Normally, Kiek is cooking for her B&B guests, but there's always a table for those who know that her place is really a guarantee for...
