Chateau de Freschines — Hotel in Blois

5 star for me, but for sure it is not a place for everyone. Recommended for history lovers, urbex fans and everyone with a geeky twist. On the other hand - if you re comfort seeker, fond of chain hotel rooms etc. better just go somewhere else.

By staying there you support restoration efforts of the current owner of chateau. It is a long term, self-funded project with no big investment fund behind it. Restoration goes floor by floor, so you still may have a room that has electricity panel for the whole floor ;) Bed is clean and comfy, bathroom has all necessary utilities. Everything else is.. history. Personally I don't want all the chateaus to be decorated and managed by chains like Hilton, so kudos to the owners for going against that trend and respecting a rich history of the place.

Drinking local wine in the evening in the hotel gardens and having breakfast in a grand dining hall - these are 'once in a lifetime' experiences for me. Magical, full of charm, I will remember them for...

Chateau de Freschines takes you on a unique journey through history, without a thick layer of varnish covering it. You can wander over creaky floors, through high rooms, inhale the scent of centuries and look in mirrors that were also looked into 200 years ago. ||||Architect and hostess Elisabeth understands better than anyone that it is precisely the faded glory that makes these kinds of places so beautiful. Rooms and sanitary facilities are spotless, but the castle shows in many places that people have lived there for centuries. in agosto 2022 , per soggiornare nei pressi di Blois, ho prenotato l’albergo ||Chateau de Freschines, 41330, Villefrancoeur||attratta dalla presentazione della struttura.||Subito dopo aver chiuso la prenotazione ho ricevuto una email dove veniva fatto presente che erano in corso lavori di ristrutturazione e pertanto si scusavano per eventuali disagi.||Giunti sul luogo lo stesso giorno , l’impatto è stato subito negativo; abbiamo constatato che tutto il contesto era completamente diverso da come era stato presentato su booking.com, tutta la struttura era fatiscente, sporca e in totale degrado, ma non vi era alcun cantiere in corso o lavori di ristrutturazione. ||Ha sorpreso anche il fatto che non vi era personale, ma solo la persona che ci ha accolto, poco curata nell’aspetto, nella persona e nell’abbigliamento e che successivamente si è qualificato come il proprietario. ||Questo signore ( che non parlava francese e non ha voluto rendere nota la sua nazionalità) ci ha accompagnato in camera portando lui i nostri bagagli.||Quando io e mio marito abbiamo visto la stanza, oltre allo sconforto era per noi evidente che non era certo possibile adattarsi.||Il bagno non era in camera ma nel corridoio , due stanze dopo la nostra e da condividere con altri ospiti; faceva molto caldo, non vi era l’aria condizionata e gli arredi erano riprova di degrado e incuria.||Quando abbiamo manifestato la nostra determinazione a non soggiornare e a rappresentare a Booking il contesto con qualche fotografia, il personaggio che ci aveva accolto ha alzato i toni ed ha assunto atteggiamenti minacciosi.||Per tutto quanto sopra ritengo che questa struttura debba...
