Wow - as in - word of wonder ! :) I had been in bed&a real fast before but for some reason never quite satisfied. It always feel either a little cheap or lacks the authenticity you expect from such places. ||||I was therefore a little hesitant when my bf insisted on spending a "romantic" week-end there at first - but, as soon as we got on the grounds I changed||My mind right away. The place is great !! The owner offered to show us around the house and for sure, next time we come back we will opt for the "cassandre bedroom" as it is the highest one and offers a view on both the gardens and the swimming pool and the orchard on the other side. We got to stay in Sévigny, a classic looking room with an iron cast bathtub - it really felt like we had transported in a different century :) ||I had read there was no wifi but untrue - and free :) breakfast was a little different than expected - I am quite used to buffets and was actually pleased to being served at the table without having to do anything. Ham and eggs, cheese, delicious home-made jams, croissants, brioche, etc.. ||The place is very nicely located ( right next to chambord, Talcy and menars - and only 5 minutes away from Blois ) - by the river, bikes are available as well.||Hit me if you have any questions - ||Thank you to the girls and the owner - I will now look for places just...
Read moreWe stayed here last night in the Villmorin apartment and were all taken aback at how squalid it was. Being the typical stoical Brit’s abroad we smiled politely when shown the rooms and hoped the beds would be more comfortable than they looked. As we looked around our rooms we realised there was dirt everywhere and a musty smell that was so overwhelming. I did suggest leaving but we decided to stay having booked the rooms 6 months earlier.||||Suffice to say my husband managed 2 hours, me about 4 hours sleep in a bed whose mattress must have been an antique in its own right! The smell of the pillows was dreadful. ||||Madame, who to be fair was welcoming but seemed a little away with the fairies, kept shouting at a very young girl (about 14 years we estimated) when she needed something such as when we discovered we had no towels. The ones proffered had definitely seen better days.||||We all love “old French” antiques, brocante, decor and quirky establishments and Chateau de la Rue certainly has the potential to be lovely but it was filthy. New mattresses, pillow and towels would be a start, and simple courtesies such as airing the rooms prior to...
Read moreI booked the room few hours before I arrived and got some issue to find the place. The address indicated is not accurate so I call and ask for help but the woman who picked up was quite arrogant and not helpful at all. I had to ask people in the villages around to finally find the place. I had a bad feeling even before arriving.||||Once there we got welcomed by two young foreigners I guess they were doing an internship, while the manager of the space was resting outdoor.|| ||The staff helped us to book a restaurant downtown. But when comes the moment to bring our luggage to the room we looked at each other and both agreed that we didn’t want to spend a night there. ||||Even though the environment looks nice in the picture in really it was very dusty and the staff was not warm nor welcoming. The place is not very vivid. If you are looking for friendly local people...
