Perfection at its Best!
Our two week stay at Chalet Forest was like a vacation within a vacation. It was even better than our highest expectations. More breathtaking than photos can convey!
The chalet itself is an immaculately restored large home with modern building materials artfully incorporated into the historic structure. It was the perfect place for everyone in our group of 12 to gather. The enormous kitchen and dining room had everything needed to cook and serve at least 16 people at the dining table, or in the massive living room: three stories tall with super comfy sofas facing the largest fireplace and hearth I’ve ever seen.
The views of the Alps from every window was stunning.
Each of the five en-suites and three family rooms provided roomy privacy. The beds are new and very comfortable. Linens are professionally cleaned, and crispy fresh. The showers and baths are luxurious. There’s an enormous sprkling clear spa on the deck to take in the mountains and starry sky.
The chalet is situated on a small road that is central to all the amazing activities of the valley. Morillon and Samoëns are minutes away. Fresh bread, fruit and vegetables are close enough to walk to every morning. There’s even a cheese factory around the corner! Le Griffre River is reachable by a short trail through the meadow. Waterfalls are everywhere. Markets, cultural events, cafes, skiing, chocaliters, hiking trails with plump blueberries, whitewater rafting, paragliding, etc. are so close. Wow!
Pascale and Ana are top notch, super friendly hosts that respond immediately, and stay out of your way otherwise. I learned that Pascale grew up nearby, and with Ana, raised their own kids in this house. They did all of the work themselves: picking out the giant hearthstone and moving it in place, finding all the antique doors, going to quarries to direct the cutting of the floor tiles, even finding and fitting hand hewn antique beams and windows. It’s truly a work of art.

Read moreOur one week summer visit to Chalet Forest exceeded every expectation. Our group included 4 couples, including young children. Each family’s spacious bedroom and en suite bathroom boasted remarkably comfortable beds and de luxe linens. The windows provided spectacular views yet offered black out shades for napping or sleeping late. We used the business center’s powerful internet, computer and printer in its large quiet workspace. The enormous salon’s stylish and comfortable sofas face each other and the dramatic wood burning fireplace, where we played hours of board games or read books that are bountiful from the chalet’s upstairs family room. The kitchen contains every possible appliance and houseware needed for preparing big gourmet meals, or simply delicious coffee with locally sourced pastries and breads and cheeses. The surrounding area provided days of hiking, berry picking, swimming, boating, paragliding, bistros and restaurants, museums, churches, shops, open air markets and artisanal foods and wines.
