Welcoming entrance , Welcomed by friendly faces at reception , Had an instant warming home feel , after a 9 hour drive we were invited to free tea / coffee / water ( which is unlimited ) Really generous to offer those for free during the stay at the hotel . The Lounge area was ok(ish) with 4 televisions showing latest sport/ events etc . Bar was fab , drinks reasonably priced and stafff again very friendly . Restaurant was lovely , again reasonably priced the food was absolutely amazing !!!! Lounge seating was 4 sofas facing each other ... and the odd two . One by main door ( too cold to sit on as door keeps opening ) Second one near door to rooms meaning constant people slamming it by your head . Ski shop ( downstairs ) was fab free lockers to store all things . Really helpful guy running the shop , Lovely things for sale too and reasonably priced ! Had games to play and so much for kids to do to keep occupied , Room was absolutely awesome Pac-Man/ retro themed Bathroom was modern so clean and fresh , Towels provided and the essentials needed . Topped up daily with toilet rolls etc without fail ! Bed was huuuge !!! Sooo comfy too ! Fresh clean bedding , lovely view of the mountains Quirky lighting , nice big television with free films managed to watch a couple that had only recently just come out on tv !! ( bonus ) Can watch them in any launguage too! ( helpful for some ) Very Nice spacious clean room ! Bus very frequently to mountains !! Bus stop literally outside . Air con too in room . Staff all spoke English ( helped big time seeing as my french is absolutely terrible )
Cons - ( hence the 4 stars ) ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Room got very hot in evening , slightly too noisy to have window open as road noise , Prefer not to sleep with air con on !
Bar not open until 4 .
One of the waiters ( bold head ) rather arrogant thought he owned the place .! Was laughable just thought it let the other staff members down.
Busy times in the hotel there wasn’t enough space to sit and drink / chill , I would really like to have been able to go to another Lounge area to chill/ drink . When it got too busy there was no where to sit either restaurant on the hard wooden tables or on one of the 4 sofas facing each other looking up at 4 television screens . Would have felt a bit more relaxing . And not so invasive ! ( not everybody wants to mingle with others .)
Hallway to ( rooms ) is so dark ! Painted black with minimal lightning ! I understand it’s thw theme but BLACK !??? It’s absolutely awful .....
The lift is only useable with the card key ( for room) I found that inconvenient at times .
Overall this is the one of best hotels I’ve stayed in , in chamonix ! Would definitely come again . Even just to eat here or drink . Please think about rearranging the Lounge area , It’s nice to socialise but for couples and people on own it would be nice to have a more chilled area and for couples more intimate without feeling stared at ! Maybe a smaller bar away from the food area etc .
I don’t have much confidence and felt very uncomfortable, so ended up just chilling in my room.
Thank you for such a pleasant stay , we will 100% be back again this year and from now on .......

Read moreMy husband, daughter and I stayed at the rocky pop over new year 2018/19. The first thing that strikes you is the sexiest marketing pictures – can you be serious in this day and age?
The hotel is very basic but comfortable enough. The bedrooms are small, the beds are good. However the bedrooms would benefit from a comfortable chair to sit in . The bathrooms are absolutely tiny but with quite generous showers. There is nowhere to put your luggage, you have to leave it on the floor. There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the bedroom, although there is tea and coffee and water available in the reception area. A kettle in the bedroom would be great. This is definitely a “no frills’ hotel.
The hotel is very popular with families with small children who are very evident especially in the small lounge area at the front of the ground floor of the hotel till quite late at night.
There is nowhere comfortable to sit in the hotel – not in your own room, nor in any lounge area as the sofas in reception are normally full with small children eating pizza.
We ate in the hotel on our first night only. The food was very greasy, lots of cheese melted over everything. My salad was dripping in greasy oil. As a result, we decided not to take breakfast in the hotel anc we did not eat there again.
On our last night, at 9pm we were told we couldn’t sit at one of the communal tables to have a drink ( the bar area was full ) but we we eventually told we could sit in a room at the back of the hotel next to a play area. It was a mess and in over an hour the table next to us was not cleared of dirty plates, boxes and glasses.
The reception staff are helpful and friendly.
Overall it’s a basic, clean, family oriented hotel pretty lacking on the comfort factor with a disappointing food offering. In skiing terms it’s at the opposite end of Les Houches to the main lift so you need to wait for one of the free buses to get there otherwise it’s a 30...
Read moreWhen you first arrive you get the impression that this is a cool hotel. It looks well kept from the outside and the funky artwork and decor is fun and welcoming. The staff were friendly and check in was easy.||||The bar area is funky, the gaming area and decor helps create a good atmosphere that my daughter particularly liked.||||The room is funky with its split mezzanine levels. My daughter loved the layout of the room, the colourful carpets and the beds. Everything was clean and there were plenty of towels.||||The movie system accessible from the TV was a little sketchy. I had it cut out half a dozen times when watching movies. I had to unplug the TV from the wall to get it to reboot back to the Home Screen. Not the end of the world but annoying all the same. ||||All that said, a star is lost for a couple of points. The room was very warm, reading 23.5 degrees on the thermostat. The HVAC in the room was off meaning that the room could not be cooled, which meant it was uncomfortable. The economic option would be to open the window right? Not if you are in an inside room at ground level with windows opening into the gaming area. Not only does it get quite noisy out there, the windows are at the perfect height for visibility and access. Meaning that the curtains were kept closed, and the window could not be left open. Perhaps the hotel should consider security film on the glass at this level to give the guests some privacy, and windows that could be opened for ventilation but kept secure. I will also add that having to keep the curtains closed meant the room was very dark as the lighting is more for aesthetics/ ambience than practicality. I would consider staying here again as as it is a cool hotel, but I would be requesting an outside...
