Château la Moune — Hotel in Bordeaux

After an overnight flight to Bordeaux, we did not want to drive on to our destination several hours away and decided to stay overnight at a hotel not too far from the airport, and on the way to our destination in the Dordogne.|Chateau La Moune was a brilliant find, located just across the Pont Aquitaine, and close to the A 89.|François, the manager, was so very accommodating and friendly. He even drove these two tired travelers to a nearby restaurant and returned to pick us up. He went out of his way to make our brief visit memorable. |We had the chambre Nuptiale – a large, beautifully furnished room on the ground floor – the king-sized bed was a dream.|His breakfast was wonderful. We could have had anything we wanted, but we chose to have tea and croissants – served with lovely jams, sweet local strawberries and other fruits. AND a piece of his over-the-top delicious orange cake – for which he offered the recipe – an offer that was gratefully accepted.|Chateau La Moune has become our go-to overnight stop when we land at...

We stayed with friends and enjoyed our stay.

François was an absolutely fantastic host and chef, and all around a lovely individual! We felt at home, and he took care of everything. He prepared a private breakfast each morning, which was quite a highlight. He also offers private dinners, which we regrettably did not have time for, but we can only imagine how awesome that would have been.

The pool is a great place for a quick dip on a hot day.

There is a nice outdoor ping pong table in the backyard.

The rooms could use a little updating, but it was charming all the same!
