Hôtel le Moulin de la Sorinière — Hotel in Bressuire

We were travelling up the western side of France, from Cognac to Brittany via the Vendee area and were looking for somewhere for an overnight stop that was quiet and relaxing. We found this hotel via an Internet search and although there were no previous reviews on this web site we felt that as it was a Logis registered hotel it was likely to to be fairly good. The hotel is located down at the end of a country lane - there is no noise at night except for the odd cow or other farm animal. The hotel being surrounded by fields and the stream.||On arrival we were very pleasantly surprised that the standard of accommodation and reception were very good and the prices very reasonable.||We ate a extremely good value and pleasant evening meal, that included lots of local produce and fish. ||The buildings are a mixture of converted water mill and modern extension with rooms in both parts. The mill stream still flows next to the main building. The conversion was obviously completed a few years ago to a high standard and the overall impression is of good quality, clean and reasonable value hotel that would be a good base for touring the area or as a stop over as we did.||Thoroughly...

My husband & I only came here to eat lunch once in 2022 and it was a delicious surprise. It was pretty expensive but they had a sort of menu that comes with the entrée+main dish or main dish+dessert that is the same for everyone. It's just that you choose between 2 different types of entrées or main dishes or desserts. The photo has a croissant burger, that was a flaky delicious delight.I loved the fact that the bun was a croissant, the steak and fries we're perfectly cooked, just wish there was a little more on my plate and the dessert was a mango/passion fruit cheescake that looked grogeous and tasted delightful. The staff at reception we're very sweet and funny and their dog who is a sweet, cocker spaniel greets you at the door. Unbelievably helpful and friendly couple greet you.||The rooms are beautifully, clean and comfortable and the setting unreal ( on the first morning of our stay a bride and groom turned up with three photographer for their wedding photos, the owners had given permission to use their grounds) that is how beautiful this place is!!!||Strongly advise for a chilled relaxing stay.||The only noise you hear is the wildlife frogs from the pond (more like a lake), the birds singing but definitely no noise pollution.||The weather was glorious, the swimming pool large with adequate sun beds.||Best of all the home made jams were delicious on the local brioche at breakfast time, crusty rustic French baguette and croissant also and must for a great...
