What can I say about this site? We first made our acquaintance with Camping Les Abers in 2005. It was also our first caravan trip abroad. Firstly location - Situated on the beach in a bay, the view is stunning. A short walk down a sandy path finds you on the beach. Good sandy and a safe place for toddlers to go in the water. There are many water sports people here but the main area is partitioned off from them for bathers and swimmers. Amenities - Quite basic. There are two shower blocks. You have to pay to use the showers which is a bit strange for those used to English campsites and is done on a token system so you are forever running to reception to buy more tokens. Showers and facilities work well. There is a reception area and a large kids play area and a large activities hall. There is also a hairdressers but in all the time I have been there I have never seen open! On certain days and evenings there are visits from various food suppliers. Sunday is the chicken and chips man and then a couple of evenings a week the crepe lady comes (excellent!). But to look at this site in terms of amenities is to miss the point of it and why I have given it this 5 star rating. What it has in spades, is atmosphere. Hubert Le Cuff, the owner, is an ardent music fan and singer and every Sunday hosts the 'Concert Ouvert' (Open Mic night in English terms) and the site comes alive with budding musicians and singers of all genres who perform. We have visited on and off for over 10 years and you see the same faces time and time again. You don't just visit Camping Les Abers, you absorb yourself in it. Do that and you will become one of those who regularly returns time and time again. Oh, and the local area is good as well. Plenty to do and see. Highly recommended although maybe not...
Read more"Camping at the Abers is the best", so said various German travellers we had met on previous French holidays, so this year we headed for Camping Les Abers near the small Breton town of Landeda. Abers are basically sea flooded river valleys which offer shelter from the turbulent Atlantic's changing moods. Beach's and dunes abound, meshed into big vistas of sea, islands and light houses. There is plenty for the outdoor enthusiast ranging from paddling in rock pools to the thrill of kite surfing.||The sites are of reasonable size and the central toilet block was clean and seemed to handle the mid summer numbers without difficulty. ||The owners and staff were great, indeed they are keen musicians and encouraged everybody to join then in the evenings for informal concerts. If you have any musical talent this is the place to show case it, and indeed during the day it was not unusual to hear music wafting over the site as would be entertainers practised their party pieces.||The area is also great for cycling, with plenty of trails, though we found them difficult to follow at times, as they are largely made up from a mish-mash of country roads, forest trails and some purpose built sections. They could do with some more logic applied to their signage.||All round a great place for a beach holiday, and some Germans even lent me a deck chair as I joined them and demonstrated my tuneless musical efforts. Funny, I never got to sing in the evening - but...

The site was fairly busy and you could choose your pitch and then it's hunt the electrical hook up which can be quite difficult depending on your pitch. They are not the largest pitches but they are fairly level grass and sand areas. ||The toilet block is a bit outdated and basic and I would imagine in the high season you may have to wait your turn or pick another time to go back. You need a shower token but it gives you ample time for your money. ||You can purchase wifi at €15 for a week and it's fairy reliable but not the fastest.||There is a small shop at the entrance to the shop which is fairly well stocked in Landeda there are some shops and a mini market but for supermarkets you have to go to Lanilis which is about a ten minute drive. ||There are a couple of restaurants close to the site which are very good. ||||Now the location minutes from the beach with stunning views and sunset. The tide when out provides lovely walks to some small islands but do watch the tide it comes in quite quick. When it's windy the sea fills with kite surfers it's remarkable that there are no collisions as there are that many but enjoyable to watch. ||||All in all a good campsite and well...
