Les Hameaux du Perrier — Hotel in Brive-la-Gaillarde

The staff were a bit odd. Good, cheerful welcome from receptionist on arrival but many other staff members seemed unfriendly - perhaps a bit tired after the main season? One female staff member shouted at me in French when I visited the reception/pool area that she hoped I hadn't come to wash the linen as she was just closing up the laundry - I had no intention of doing so. She was clearly stressed - my daughter was unobtrusively attempting to use the WiFi (often poor) in the same area (WiFi, often slow, is only available to guests here, not in the chalets, but we knew that we before we booked) The same woman marched past her, slammed the door into the reception office and the WiFi disappeared. Had she turned it off? Probably, but we didn't dare ask!||The site is very steep and not easy to get around without a car unless one is fit and strong or in a chalet near the entrance and pool.||The weather was exceptionally hot and we had to buy a fan as the chalet became stifling - A/C would have been wonderful!||On the plus side:||The clean and spacious chalets are located on large plots with plenty of room to park a car. The bed linen (extra charge) was high quality cotton which made a nice change from the "paper' versions often found on other campsites. Towels were good quality too, though the bath towels weren't huge. Dishwasher was a welcome addition in the kitchen. The site was peaceful with many trees and it's close to a beautiful lake with a beach (though you'd have to be fit to reach it on foot.) ||We were here for 12 days to attend the ISDE (International Motorcycle Enduro) and explore the beautiful local...

The park is old and has lost any glory that it might have had in its early days. There are 2 swimming pools (of which one is heated), and they're OK. Too bad that it takes almost 3 days for the owner to do regular maintenance. The sports facilities are OK. The bungalows however are showing serious signs of decay: the outside (and inside) carpentry has been repaired several times in not so professional ways, The furniture is old and worn. Kitchen utensils are sparse, Inventory is far from complete when compared to the list. Main disappointment was most certainly the owner not responding to our report of a leakage of the water heater: water was dripping from the heater through the electrical junction box. We reported this issue on Tuesday, and although the owner passed by the bungalow several times a day to turn around his car, he never took the time to even come check, let be repair the heater. We left Friday night, while the heater was still leaking. Again, the area is beautiful: within 2 km there is a wonderful lake - lac-du-cause, a variety of astonishing medieval villages and towns, prehistoric caves and so on within a 100 km radius), the park has a few strengths and touristic advantages, but the management is poor and customer service has clearly not yet been introduced. It's a shame, we'll be looking elsewhere for our future stays...

Le site et ses chalets ne sont pas tout jeunes, mais ils ont l'avantage d'être idéalement situés au milieu de la colline et de la forêt, très espacés avec globalement peu de vis à vis avec les autres chalets. De quoi passer un bon moment relativement proche de la nature. Les chalets sont assez bien agencés et équipés, ils sont à ventiler en période estivale car la température y monte facilement, mais ils permettent d'avoir un lieu en dur avec un bon confort, tout en profitant de l'espace naturel environnant. Le lieu est très calme, propice à un bon moment de détente. Il existe 2 piscines, celle du haut n'a pas un revêtement au sol super agréable pour les pieds (les chaussures doivent rester à l'entrée), le pédiluve de la piscine du haut était vide et sale, l'entretien de la piscine satisfaisant. Nous n'avons pas apprécié la remarque de la personne de l'accueil qui nous a confondu (avec insistance) avec des camping-caristes qui auraient profité du lieu, alors que nous avions loué un des chalets en bonne et due forme. La réception et l'espace restauration sentent le tabac froid depuis l'extérieur, cela ne donne pas envie d'entrer.
