We stayed here on the way back from a skiing holiday. On the way out we had stayed in a boring concrete box by the motorway, it was so depressing I thought I would try something more interesting on the way back. This place was priceless. We had a family suite which was two separate bedrooms, a bathroom and a library. They have various configurations of rooms. The decor is Les Liaisons Dangereuses meets Jeff Koons. It is a lovingly restored 18th century manor house where half the decor is classic French style and other half is a wildly eclectic array of objets d'art, but it isn't done in a shallow kitsch way. You can tell that each of the many hundreds of objects in every room have been carefully selected, there are lots of vintage clothes, old wedding photos, beautiful old art books, faberge style eggs, perfume bottles, you name it, it's there. The bathroom was great, with a power shower that pummelled you with jets of water from all directions, fluffy bathrobes, his'n'hers basins. The children loved it even though there was no sign of a screen anywhere (there is wifi though). We didn't stay for breakfast as we had to leave early, but this would be a super place to spend a weekend, or if you are using it as a stopover try and and arrive in daylight and stay for breakfast the next day to make the most of it. It cost E160 for 4 of us, so that's about £30 pppn....
