Mas de Carabelle is one of the places that, when you arrive, feels like home. The secret is in the details…the perfectly decorated rooms, clean and cosy. They are styled with care. The beds are very good; a good rest is guaranteed. The garden with all the plants and flowers that are handled with care and love. And John serving his handmade popsicles when you sit at the pool with your feet in the water. Breakfast, made with so much care. The tables d’hotes with fresh ingredients; the food is so good. The view, when you stand in the garden, looking at another amazing sunset or ‘just’ the view of la Roque (Alrique), the center of this small village. And, let’s not forget the shooting stars we’ve seen two years in a row (in August). The sweet, patient and helpful advice from the hosts, who are always there to help you find your way in the area, by bike, by car, by foot. They just know how you’ll find the beautiful path in the forest, the nice marketplace, the event in a village nearby, the wineries and so on. And they do this every time, with everyone, trust me, I know. Valeria and John have the amazing gift to make people feel at ease, to tell them all the stories about the area, the Mont Ventoux, the food and the wines. We’ll come back. Just to relax, enjoy and realize that the key to happiness is as simple as being in a lovely village, in a beautiful B&B, surrounded by tranquility and nature, exploring the Provence or relaxing in th good company of John, Valeria and their dog Nena.

A special place on earth is how we would describe Mas de Carabelle. Valeria and John assisted by Nanna the dog genuinely love what they do and their passion to ensure your holiday is just the best experience is evident every day and even before you arrive. The ground floor decent size rooms are very comfortable, spotlessly clean and fresh, exquisite touches that are often overlooked in French B&Bs, quality large beds and linen, soft towels and pool towels, fresh flowers and air conditioning. The separate communal kitchen is so appreciated with washing machine, dryer and plenty of fridge space. Safe bike storage and charging. Vally and John share their local knowledge with restaurant bookings, vineyards, markets and anything else you might like. Roque Alric was perfect for us to cycle on e-bikes on and off road, plenty of trails and quiet lanes to see this stunning part of Provence. Breakfast on the deck almost every day was a delight, homemade granola, fruit and yoghurt with other homemade treats and delicious jams all made by John. You have to try one of John and Vally’s evening suppers, Incredible value, fun and delicious food and wine. The pool area relaxing space are so quiet with the most incredible view especially the sunset. We loved everything about this Hidden Gem. Well done Vally, John and Nanna

My wife and I enjoyed three nights at Mas Carabelle in La Roque - Alric. We felt extremely welcomed by the hosts. It’s a great place to relax, recharge and act as a base for exploring the surrounding area. After a day of adventures we enjoyed the pool and terrace with a cold beverage. The hosts were great and made us feel more than welcome. Mas Carabelle’s amenities are great with a pool and air conditioning to cool off after bike ride or hike. We took advantage of the dinner option available that included multi courses that are made just a few feet away from the outdoor eating area. Hosts are knowledgeable regarding local domains (wineries) Highly recommend this place for either a short or even a longer stay. Looking forward to planning our next visit.

If you are looking to enjoy the Provence region, this is the place to do it from. I found this B&B to be in a perfect location just on the edge of the small village of le Roque-Alric so that it is quiet without remote feeling.

Valerie and John were super fabulous hosts, always readily available on site, but I was also able to enjoy privacy as all the guest rooms are on a separate level from their home. They are very knowledgeable of the region and were able to give me really good tips on the different festivals and street markets in the nearby villages, good restaurants, and the many different local vineyards.

John is an amazing chef and for sure one of the highlights of the stay was enjoying a couple of dinners of delicious and beautifully presented dishes that included locally sourced veggies, cheeses, fruits, and breads. I’m not a big breakfast eater but I did love to have a bowl of John’s own homemade granola cereal accompanied by a perfectly brewed cup of coffee.

I enjoyed a restful place to sleep each night in my bedroom that was spacious with beautiful furniture, lovely artwork and top-of-the-line bedding. It was bright and cheerful with a very large bathroom and shower. Everything was super clean and comfortable.

I spent several afternoons at the pool that has a very large deck and beautiful foliage and trees so that at any time of day I could sit either in the sun or in shade.

I went on a couple of hikes in the surrounding hills straight from the B&B and also took a leisurely stroll through the charming village. I was glad I brought my camera as there are so many stunning views in all directions.

My 5 day stay at Mas de Carabelle B&B is one that I will for...
