Camping La Ribière — Hotel in Castellane

We visited this site in October because the site we were at was closing. I stay in campsites all over Europe both motorcycling and in the motorhome and have been amazed at how wonderful they are. And that is why I feel a need to warn people about this one. |There are notices everywhere setting out rules in a very stern manour. I unfortunately got on the wrong side of one of these rules when using the site BBQ. I used wood to BBQ, as I had done on all the other sites, only to have the owner talk sternly to me in French. Unfortunately I didn't understand him and he looked up in the air and walked off. His wife then came out and told me in English that wood was not permitted and pointed at a sign. The sign contained a lot of don'ts with this one being in small letters.|The owner blanked me the next morning when I said hello and when I went to clean the BBQ, another rule, he shooed me away. |My partner was then shouted at by a resident chalet owner for leaving the engine running when we were topping up water. |There are even signs on how to sit on the toilet! |Very unfriendly site with precious owner and resident guests. |The next site I went to actually left gathered wood for the BBQ'S, what a...

Nice campsite managed by friendly lovely owners, La Ribière is a perfect accommodation for quiet group and family trips. We stayed there during a climbing trip, with a group of 45 pers., during a long weekend. Thanks to the availability and thoughtfulness of Nadia and Thierry, organizing this group trip, finding our way around, and discovering the cliffs and boulders of Annot was an easy and pleasant experience. The bread, pastries, sandwiches ordered for breakfast and lunch were a blast! Should you plan any climbing or hiking trip around, we strongly recommend relying on the food prepared by the campsite. From 22-7-2020 till 29-7-2020 We stayed for 1 Week in this very beautiful - quiet and clean camping! Our place was on the Riverside. Every morning we had the Bread-service bringing 1 banquette. Everyone was very kind and friendly and helpfull. The Camping-Restaurant-Food was delicious! We will say thank you for everything Hans and Antoinette van Laarhoven
