Awful campsite, used end of July for one night with the family on our way down to the south west. Informed the campsite the day before that we would probably be arriving late due to ferry times/children problems on way down and called them again on the day. On our arrival, a very weird and unwelcoming man "greeted" (he really didn't) us, booked us in whilst muttering some unsavoury things to the group he was with in French and trying to convince me I'd made the booking wrong but he was going to let if fly this time(girl please..). I think he must have assumed that I didn't understand what he was saying??.. (I grew up in France). After that, very half heartedly lead us over to the mobile home, gave us the key and just told us to put the key on the counter in the morning and just leave. so that is what we did...no explanations about anything. If you are considering this campsite.. just don't.. trust me I worked on campsites for ten years in France and studied hotellerie/tourisme and that is not the way you treat your clients or run a campsite.. the proof is in the pudding and it was pretty....empty... I'm not asking for a red carpet and a bottle of champagne upon arrival but if you are running any sort of business to do with tourisme you need to have a minimum of knowledge and manners to make them at least feel welcome and want to return... whether it's his mood, us making him late for his evening chips or perhaps the plates on my car, I don't know. Needless to say, we will not...

A decent Camping ground. They say 3 stars. I am not sure where the 3 stars come from. It's decent price wise. But 3 stars is based on nothing. The camping ground is next to the river. And that is their selling point. Only 5 camping places are actually next to the river. And those 5 places have 0 privacy during the day because the whole camping is next to your spot. The toilet house is another issue. The ventilation is terrible. So the smell is bad. You don't really feel clean when in the toilet house doing the dishes. Also the camping ground has around 20 to 30 spots. But can not accomodate that many people. This results in there not being hot water at 8 p.m on a sunday night. Wich i think is not okay. Also. People walk their dog. And do not clean up after them. And i have not seen anyone clean the camping ground the whole week we are here. The toilet house is cleaned daily. But the grounds itself no. This camping ground is easy to find online. And i think thats why it is filled. But it's not...

We stayed 2 nights at this campsite in February. The reason for 4 stars is that it's not set up for winter camping, as all the pitches are grass. As a result it was very muddy, making it impossible to keep mud out of the motorhome. The amenities were adequate, but cold. Having a basic grasp of French will be very useful, as little English spoken, which is fair enough, as it is in France. Having said that, with the ACSI card it was €14 a night. Can't grumble at that. In the summer this is a 5 star site, as it's right on the river and a short walk to the beautiful historic town. There's an English speaking veterinary in the town perfect for your animal health certificate. Also plenty of free parking close by for...

Easy arrival and check in to this lovely site. Easy access to large, level pitches which are clearly demarcated. Some pitches (closed in the winter) were right next to the river Creuse with beautiful views. The shower and toilet block was heated to 18.5° and the showers in February were beautifully warm (no temperature control but it didn't matter as the temperature was perfect for me). Good water pressure in the showers and a decent run-on of water when you press the button. A well cared for and pleasant site.
