Maison d'hôtes au Château de la Villeneuve — Hotel in Chalon-sur-Saône

Stayed one night. Lovely large room, very clean and comfortable. The chateau was refurbished about 6 years ago. The chateau is run as a B&B so access is after 6pm. Lots of secure parking behind locked gates in the grounds of the chateau.||Excellent value wine list - limited but good choices. You can pre-order to have dinner at the Chateau, which we did- it exceeded expectations - no choice (you provide your dietaries in advance) but four courses, just the right portions and balance, all home cooked. Breakfast also very good with all home prepared food. Isabelle was an excellent host, including bringing us some canapés to have with our wine pre-dinner in our room. My husband and I stayed at this wonderful Chateau on our way to and from the south of France. It was stunning. Isabelle and her husband were wonderful hosts. There was ample secure parking, the room was tastefully furnished, well equipped and the bed very comfortable. We had an evening meal on both occasions and it was delightful, traditional home cooked food and on our first night we enjoyed the company of some fellow guests from Norway. A lovely experience. Located in a beautiful “chateau” only a few minutes drive from central Chalon, my wife and I enjoyed the entire experience, from the first moment of meeting the hostess, Isabelle. Our second floor suite was spacious and comfortable. The plentiful petite dejuener ncluded coffee/tea/ breads, jams, yogurt, croissants and even an egg, if one is so inclined. We enjoyed a lovely 4 course dinner one evening totally prepared by Isabelle. The total cost can be considered a travel bargain in today’s high cost of accommodations and services.
