This is a beautiful hotel on the outskirts of Cognac, and set in its own large gardens alongside the Charente river. My friends and I enjoyed a long weekend stay here and thoroughly enjoyed the time. The hotel building itself is marvellous and underwent an expensive refurbishment, opening in June 2023. The modernisation has clearly been sympathetically completed and the artwork, decoration and woodwork are all of high standard. The Restaurant and Brasserie both serve delicious meals with attentive staff. The bedrooms (we were in the adjacent Le Chai building) are of a very good standard. But above all this, the thing I was most consistently impressed with was the professionalism yet friendliness of the staff. We felt welcomed, even during the booking process when I asked for some activities to be arranged by the concierge which they did quickly and helpfully. Check-in was quick but welcoming, and every time we entered the hotel or the dining areas we were greeted almost like old friends. Nothing appeared too much trouble. Dîner dans ce magnifique hôtel doté d une brasserie et d un restaurant gastronomique. Notre dîner était au gastro. Nous avons été accueillis très gentiment devant l entrée . Le hall d entrée est très beau, donnant sur différentes pièces dont un bar avec une lustre en cristal incroyable ! La salle du gastro est très belle avec des dorures , de beaux rideaux… c’est une décoration très classique que je n apprécie pas particulièrement mais c’est tres beau. La vaisselle est plus contemporaine avec certaines assiettes surprenantes. Il y a un effort indéniable dans la recherche de présentation des plats et c’est réussi. Il est juste étonnant et dommage de ne pas changer le couteau entre du poisson et de la viande. Nous avons pris le menu en 4 plats. Je ne suis pas une grosse mangeuse mais j ai trouvé que c était copieux. 7 plats aurait été trop pour moi car il y a de très bonnes mises en bouches ainsi que des mignardises délicieuses après le dessert. Nous avons très bien dîné, j’ai néanmoins trouvé le bœuf un peu ferme, je m attendais à une viande de type filet. Nous avons bu de très bons vins, Sancerre en blanc et Saint Joseph en rouge, pour un prix très correct. Le service du vin est discret et ne pousse pas du tout à la consommation, comme cela est parfois le cas. Le service est très pro et sympathique avec de petites attentions vraiment agréables. La responsable m’a interpellée en toute discrétion, me disant avoir compris que c était l anniversaire de la jeune fille de la table, est ce qu’il serait apprécié qu elle ait une bougie sur son dessert.|Le rapport qualité prix, 90€ par personne avec le vin, est excellent : le lieu est beau, la cuisine bonne et le service très bien.
