The highlight of our 4wk trip. Matt and Kim are lovely welcoming hardworking hosts. We doubled our nights as we didn’t want to leave! It is a beautiful, rustic quiet site. The facilities are immaculate, the chickens make you smile and the pitches are huge. It has the added benefit of being almost dark, so we saw the best skies from our whole trip. They are both experienced campers/campervaner’s and know what is important on a site, nothing was too much trouble. I wish them all the luck in the future. We will be returning here, it will be a convenient stop (but I know it won’t just be for the night!!) on our way further South. Lots of great cycling and also nearby historical towns with day and evening markets. Thank-you so much for your hospitality and we will definitely be back Tracey & Mick

What a lovely discovery! We needed a one night stop and found this site by chance browsing the ACSI sites. We were warmly welcomed on arrival, and once we were settled, we were offered a welcome drink, a really nice touch. This is such a tranquil place, with a lovely village community, the village also has a nice little lake, snack bars, restaurant and a shop. We wished we had time to stay for longer that our one night, and would without hesitation stay here again. If you are looking for a nice quiet welcoming site with a great shower room and good clean facilities, put this site on your list

Beautiful quiet campsite with clean, modern facilities (love the showers), large private pitches with shade and a lovely friendly welcome from Fiona and Alasdair. Fabulous area for cycling and lots of places to visit in this quiet corner of France. We would highly recommend. Thank you Fiona and Alasdair. You are obviously passionate about what you do.

I am always in 2 minds about leaving positive reviews about sites which are hidden gems for which part of their charm is their quiet, undiscovered nature, wanting to selfishly keep them to ourselves and in the hope they never became too busy and popular and hence lose the very thing that attracted us to the place. But of course, credit has to be given where credit is due and this site is simply one of the best we have been to, and we have been to a lot all over Europe. If anyone wants to know how a campsite should be run, then they should look no further than to see how Alasdair and Fiona have set up this wonderful site in the French Gers countryside. We read about it in Cool camping and it certainly lived up to the very positive impression we gained before our arrival. I would emphasise that what we look for now that we travel as a couple is very different from what someone with children who need entertaining would look for. Unfortunately there appears to be a great many sites out there that cater to families and teenagers, but very few that cater to couples who just want peace and quiet. This is despite that fact that there are so many couples who camp. ||The pitches are all excellent, good shade is provided by mature trees, Alasdair cooks on certain evenings, chickens roam around the grass, it is very quiet and the local village is attractive. Bread and pastries can be ordered for the following day, but probably the best aspect are the incredible showers and toilets (spotless), together with the excellent FREE wifi. Both of these things are again surprisingly rare in campsites these days. The shower was simply the best we have ever had outside of a hotel and the wifi, which is usually rubbish if free at sites, or worse you have to pay for it, was excellent. This despite being in the middle of the countryside. Congrats to Alasdair and Fiona on getting everything spot on, and thank you. We will be...

The owners Fiona & Alasdair of Domaine le Poteau Camping et Gites Castelnau d’Auzan|Gers France are awesome owners of this place and are very friendly and make you feel very welcome; they greet you on arrival with a glass of wine and take orders for breakfast baguettes croissants; they pick up from the local patisserie; it’s a beautiful setting nice and relaxing and the plot sizes for motor homes camping are large ; the chickens roam around free and the donkeys are beautiful ; the owners have created a super place and the best panoramic views ; the owners Fiona & Alasdair share their knowledge of places to go into small town ; where to eat ; small supermarché and buy local Armagnac and sell you local wine ; the locals are friendly too ; the facilities are excellent and kept very clean all of the showers and toilets; they constantly work hard to maintain this beautiful site and see Alasdair regular mowing all of the lawns to keep it looking very nice ; lots of plants and trees and Fiona tends to the flower pots and hanging baskets ; and fresh herbs available for to pick ...

Liked: After picking up our new motor home and booking our first journey : we could not have asked for a better place to be . The owners Alasdair and Fiona are truly amazing ; they made us feel very welcome ; they greeted us on our arrival with a glass of wine ; showed us where the showers and toilets were ; we have to say was cleaned several times through the day and the facilities are clean. ; the pitch was great and very spacious ; it’s a very peaceful relaxing place with amazing panoramique scenic views . it was superb ; we definitely will return again to this beautiful place ; the local shops are friendly and plenty of walks and cycling to do! The wine they sell is good value for money ; the order we got from the bakery Alasdair and Fiona delivered everyday was super ; they make themselves available for all your needs ; and will stop and chat ; they are very friendly ; we have to say thank you to them both for our stay of which we thoroughly enjoyed.. Alasdair and Fiona have created a magnificent place. our stay vas very comfortable and relaxing . We would...
