LES JACQUEMARTS NORMANDS - Maison d'hôtes & Gîte - Guesthouse & Cottage — Hotel in Dieppe

We have stayed before in the guest house and Les Jacquemarts Normands was our first choice for this 5-day stay.

This time, we had the pleasure of being the first to stay in their new gîte, which is above their ‘TOUTLIN’ linen boutique, just adjacent to the main guest house.

The gîte is a sympathetic conversion of an enormous Norman roof-space. It’s modern, and beautifully decorated, with well chosen colours and a lot of linen of course. There’s one double bedroom and a very large 3-aspect lounge with great views over the countryside. We also saw some amazing sunsets.

There is a well fitted kitchen, which we used a lot, and in the lounge, my teenage daughter slept in a luxurious double sofa bed. We decided to make use of the washing machine so in the end, gave the place a total workout.

Guests also have access to a large, adjacent covered sun lounge, complete with coffee machine.

The place is easily accessible and only 20 mins from the Dieppe ferry. There’s 24/24 fuel available in the village and a great farm shop one minute away. The house is situated only a short drive from the main road to Rouen, which quickly connects with other main routes to the North and South of France

The owners, Fred and Benoît, are very attentive and nothing is too much trouble. And if you are looking to buy linen products then this is a perfect place to stay

Our stay didn’t turn out as planned. After weeks of traveling with our camper, we were eager for a comfortable evening in a nice room. We chose this place because of its ample parking space for our RV.

Let me start by saying that the host was kind and the breakfast was generous. However, we only gave it two stars because of the numerous insects we found in the room. The worst was a huge spider right on top of one of the beds. I understand that insects are common in rural areas, but the room should be spotlessly clean. We live and host ourselves in an old house, and this has never happened to us. We can only guess that the room was probably clean days before our arrival, but when our booking arrived, they didn’t take the opportunity to check it. Moreover, the numerous spider webs in the room indicate the presence of many spiders.

My wife suffers from arachnophobia, so we had to sleep in our camper that night. It was too late to move to another room, and we didn’t trust the place.
