Camping Du Moulin De Thoard — Hotel in Digne-les-Bains

A warm welcome as the rain we had cycled down the valley in became biblical as we arrived. The drying rack was produced, and we were offered a bijou sleeping hut as an alternative to camping in our tents. This turned out to be an ideal solution, although the rain passed more quickly than we thought.

Dinner at the restaurant was good, typical French cuisine and wine. When my stepson required a second main course to satisfy his huge appetite, it was produced very quickly.

My only issue would be with the breakfast, which was a minimal continental affair. It would be great if places like this could offer a breakfast which sets outdoor lovers up a little better for a day of exercise. That said, what we had was fine, and the coffee was very welcome.

This place is a little quirky without going over the top in any way. They have herbs pots to use in your cooking, and are keen to compost and recycle as much of the site's waste as possible.

Tra tanti campeggi della zona sono stata attirata dalla descrizione del camping du Moulin a Thoard e siamo venuti qui apposta. Spesso i campeggi sembrano più belli sulla carta che nella realtà... Qui invece non solo tutto corrisponde alla verità ma è anche molto più di quello che ci si aspetta! Un luogo delizioso, calmo e ben curato, con una piccola piscina che è un gioiellino. Inoltre i gestori sono una coppia autenticamente desiderosa di accogliere le persone, facendole davvero sentire a casa. Anche il ristorantino del campeggio è gestito direttamente dai proprietari (Fabrice è lo chef). Abbiamo mangiato le patatine fritte maison più buone del mondo! Patate biologiche della zona, con la buccia e cotte a meraviglia!!! Abbiamo anche fatto la colazione in campeggio, sempre con prodotti della zona: succo di pere artigianale ottimo, miele e marmellata di produzione locale, tutto buonissimo. Il campeggio è aperto da aprile a fine ottobre e offre anche soluzioni molto simpatiche tipo tende da glamping e bungalow su palafitte. Inoltre non ho mai visto in nessun altro campeggio una tale attenzione per la raccolta differenziata e per la produzione di humus con gli scarti alimentari (tutto documentato da cartelli molto ben fatti e molto educativi per tutti) Ci torneremo sicuramente! 1 ster voor de zeer vriendelijke eigenaren en hun personeel. 1 ster voor het schone sanitair, de gemeenschappelijke keuken, de bbq. 1 ster voor het restaurant met het simpele menu en een heerlijke pression. 1 ster voor de mooie omgeving, goede ligging t.o.v. activiteiten, Digne-les-Bains, via ferrata Roche Neuf Heures en 1 ster voor het leuke dorpje Thoard op loopafstand (plm 15 minuten) waar een bakker is, een Proxi, diverse cafés en een pizzaria. Te vermelden verder dat er een klein zwembadje is. De sfeer is gemoedelijk, er zijn slechts 20 plaatsen en enkele cabanes en die zijn rolstoel toegankelijk. Zoek de route op via google, dan kom je er vanzelf. De camping staat niet aangeduid als je op de weg naar Digne rijdt, het lijkt dat je the middle of nowhere inrijdt (D17), maar schijn bedriegt, na ongeveer 15/20 min kom je een bordje van de camping tegen en ben je er bijna. Reserveren is aan te bevelen, want mensen komen hier graag en gaan niet graag weer weg. Op de bonnefooi is in het hoogseizoen niet verstandig. Er zijn diverse wandel en fietsroutes in de omgeving. Je kunt E-bikes huren. Afvalscheiding ver doorgevoerd, compostbak en biologisch wasmiddel voor de wasmachine (3,50). Internet op de camping en gratis wifi via quickspot.
