I am not sure how to write this review. I have written quite a few but this one is with mixed thoughts. On one hand, the couple running the place is really nice and the place is cute, but there are a few too many reasons why I would hesitate to rate it a 'great service/place'. As I mentioned, the couple is lovely and the welcome was warm. The place is well located and only a few minutes away from the charming town with a great restaurant. It is a nice property- with most rooms facing the pool. This, for my taste feels rather small and compressed. The rooms are small but charmingly renovated. The thing I absolutely disliked was to have the shower in the room only an arm length away from the bed. The weirdest thing I have seen anywhere. After arrival we stepped outside to the pool (again just an arm length from our porch) and almost got run over by the owner's son riding his bike. Don't get me wrong, nothing against kids but it is a guest house and the owner didn't care that he kept on bumping straight into me and that finally I had to move out of the way. This is funny as the first thing you find when entering the room, is a big list of 'Do's and Don'ts. Late check out is charged, late check in is charged, using their towels for the pool is charged and so on. In their defense when asked about some leniency on towels we were allowed to use them. Breakfast is til 10 but by then in theory you have to be out of the room. So either you get up early and rush or you might have to pay. Last but not least, the breakfast is chargeable and for what you get served, quite expensive. I have had much bigger breakfast selections for less money in the region. (Or, in the actual spirit of a chambres d'hotes - included) So now you see my hesitation. The overall feel of the place is cute but it seems that rules and money are more important than making somebody feel at ease and...
Read moreSo this is the first review I have left on Tripadvisor. The reason I have chosen to write a review of the Mas d'Olivier is to give Melanie and Olivier the praise they deserve on this site which is where I found out about them.||The hotel is close to the great little town of Plan de la Tour (3 minute car journey away). The town itself is sleepy but perfect for a stroll around, some great food and some of the best wine 'caves' in the area.||The B&B is very tastefully decorated and all the amenities are finished to a high standard. Le Mas d'Olivier is situated in a beautiful part of the Cote d'Azur and it is a great 'base' in order to access larger towns such as Sainte Maxime, Saint Tropez, and Grimaud amongst others. ||The B&B itself has a selection of rooms around a charming pool area with hot tub (seasonal opening). Breakfast is well worth taking for a decent selection of bread, cereals, yoghurts, juices, hot drinks and pastries. Mornings always start with a 'bonjour' and a meaningful 'how did you sleep' (in a host of European languages depending on the guest's nationality) over a cup of tea or coffee.||Melanie and Olivier are perfect hosts. They are very committed to making all guests' stays as pleasant as possible. They are extremely helpful in terms of restaurant recommendations, day trips close to the B&B, trips further afield and pretty much anything you would need to know about the Cote d'Azur.||If you are thinking of making a visit to this part of the world (which I couldn't recommend highly enough), you should make sure to stop off at the Mas d'Olivier en route. It is very reasonably priced, impeccably clean and a real pleasure to stay in.||I stayed for a week as a base to explore and as soon as I can get back to Southern France, I will definitely stay here again. Thank you for everything Melanie...
Read moreThe premise is quite nice, as also is advertizing pictures suggest. ||||Most rooms are locatd around the pool, but others are not. In general rooms are quite small, especially the beds are too short fo an average adult. The rooms have an ensuite bath and AC. Cleanliness needs improvement - the room is only cleaned and new towels are provided if you let the staff know explicitly. If you don't say something, you end-up after one week without any new towel, no bed made and not a single time of cleaning in your room. If your room is next to the laundry room (ours was) the washing machine makes noise all night and you can hear staff/ the owners make noise almost all night. The husband usually comes home late from work and then a second round of noise begins.||||Breakfeast is ok as well. Nothing special, but the quality is below the French average of B&Bs and the extra charge was a big surprise to us. ||||Be careful with the payment. Sometimes they forget about the receipt after your (advance) payment (upon arrival) and want you to pay a second times at check-out! Totally unacceptable!||||In general I understand my other visitors rank it very positively in Tripadvisor - but I think it is only because they haven't been to any of the other B&Bs around this region. Those places are sometimes even cheaper but especially kept with more attention to details and more of this region's hospitality which is overall...
