Camping du Lac — Hotel in Foix

Site is fine and handy for visiting Foix but its outstanding feature was the truly exceptional help I received from the owner, receptionist and, in particular, Joelle, the site's 'guardienne'.. Had a potential mega problem with the van's AdBlue system. ||It was a Sunday and France doesn't work on Sundays. Despite this the staff tracked down an open AdBlue supplier and Joelle drove me over there in her own car. Got there and it was shut! Returned to site. Manager identified another open supplier and once again Joelle drove me there in order to (successfully) obtain an emergency supply which meant I could drive to the local Peugeot dealer 2 days later when it opened and managed to get the problem (computer failure) fixed.||Can't speak too highly of the site team's...

It was okay overall. However when I arrived soaking wet and freezing cold after riding my bike in the rain for four hours, there was nobody in reception to tell me how to take my bike last the barriers or where.to put my tent. No-one answered the phone either. Luckily I asked another customer who walked by and he pointed to a cabin where all the staff were sat around. Not happy. It was advertised to have a "drying room" but when I asked where to dry my clothes, they just said they could help me out and put them on the radiators in the reception. I was grateful for that but not as advertised. No proper place to charge your phone or anything either, I just used the ONE socket they had in the toilet block. Liked: A friendly welcome and a choice of large and level pitches. We only stayed for one night as we were en route from Spain to Charente, so we can't really give a thorough review.

Showers were a good temperature.

Disliked: As it was low season, there was only one toilet block open, so we can only review the facilities available at the time. The toilet block in question was somewhat dated and didn't really appear to have sufficient capacity for a site of this size. It may well be that the other facilities were larger to cater for more people. I'm not sure that the cleanliness warranted the star rating for the site.
