We were walking GR10 and stayed here for a couple of nights as we had arranged transfers to miss out some boring bits. We arrived Sunday afternoon and were greeted by Isabelle the owner who supplied us each with a beer and then disappeared for quite some time. I confess to thinking she was a bit "scatterbrained" and had forgotten all about us. I later discovered she was incredibly hard working and had provided lunch for 20 or 30 people.||She led us to our room through another room containing numerous hats, pictures and a grand piano. Our room consisted of 2 beds on a mezzanine floor (quite a steep climb), another bed on the first level with an old fashioned bed settee I slept on. There was also an ensuite shower toilet and kitchen sink. Dinner was a communal affair we took our chairs down from hooks in the ceiling and all( perhaps 18) sat round a large table. |Dinner the second night we were in a small room as there was a conference on, Isabelle had arranged for a local chef to come in a cook as they had specified a menu, we eat the same food which included a beautifully prepared dish of monkfish and some excellent cheese. ||Gitamiglos has a swimming pool and at 7.00 each night drinks are offered (free) to the guests which is very convivial. ||Isabelle is also a pretty good artist and has a number of painting in the styles of different artists she tried before developing her own. ||We enjoyed our stay, its idiosyncratic and bohemian, it possible to pick holes in individual parts but overall I...
Read moreWe stayed in the house La Buissonnière part of the Delightful Gitamiglos complex.||We were a group of one couple and 5 gents on a cycling week. The area is fabulous ,the village charming and the host Isabelle is very friendly and helpful. The house is a really quirky individual place with a nice big kitchen and sitting room and some interesting rooms. It's not luxury by any means but that suited us fine. Everything would have been great if we were a party of 5 but the house is not for 12 as advertised. There are 4 proper double bedrooms which are nice. The upstairs has a Room with a child's bed in it and two rooms off this only one of which has a door.. So great for a group of children but not for adults. There are only 2 toilets and one is ensuite to one of the bedrooms as is one of the showers. Two of the showers are in the same room with no dividing door. So a few issues but it has to be said it's a lovely place but you really need to make sure that you realize this is not for 12 adults and you need to know each other really well if you are going to stay here. I would thoroughly recommend it for a couple of families and their children or a smaller...
Read moreDo you remember visiting your friend's or cousins' home in summer when you were a kid? Isa's place feels alot like that. Welcoming, homely, informal and warm. The pool area in a beautiful garden is allso super nice, and Isa's lovely dog and cats came to get some petting when we sat in her "help yourselves" - poolbar. ||||I stayed at Gitamiglos 9 nights, during a canyoning course. Some of the rooms are in main building, some in other houses around the village. Isa is very kind and helpful, and the atmosphere was very...
