Me and my family rented a chalet at camping Bel Air. The reception employees are really friendly and helpful. We got a chalet nearby the main entrance, play yard and swimming pool. First we were happy with the given location but after a couple of days I got annoyed by the nightly animation/entertainment. Almost every night there was loud music till 24.00h. So if you are with young kids that go to bed early, ask for a chalet in the back. The reception told us that we should attend the presentation of the crew and informing all new guests about the campsite, so we did. During the presentation the crew incl. the manager spoke French the whole time. They did not even asked around if somebody doesn't understand any French, even knowing there were German, Dutch and British people on the campsite. After 15 minutes I left uninformed. Swimming in the pool is only allowed with tight swimmingshorts or a Speedo. Regular swimmingshorts are not allowed in the pool. The older male employee of the bar was kind of rude. I wanted to buy some ice cream for my kids, so I went to the bar. I took two ice creams out of the fridge with the intention to walk with it to the bar employee standing at the register. But before I could have done that, the older male employee came to us and grabbed the ice creams right out of my hand and told me in French that I wasn't allowed to do that and returned the ice creams back in the fridge. I was really flabbergasted. There was no sign or what so ever on the fridge that says that it wasn't allowed to pick your own ice cream. And come on I am an adult an not some kid that you have to teach what you're rules are. I also ordered Satellite Television for in our chalet, but there where only French channels. So don't order it if you're thinking to receive Dutch, German or British channels. There is a lot of entertainment, but everything was in French. They should take into account that there are also English speaking guests. Besides these downsides we had a pleasant stay at camping Bel Air. Restaurant and snack bar serve pretty good food. The guy from the reception with the long hair was really friendly...
Read moreWe stayed for 10 days in a Premium chalet, and 5 other families were staying separately at the same time. It’s a good sized site; safe for children to maraud off on scooters to park, football pitch, inflatables etc. There is an indoor and outdoor pool a few minutes walk apart, which I was dubious about but it works quite well. The outdoor pool is ‘just’ rectangular, though quite large, there is a splash park and some fab watersides alongside; we spent hours there. ||The premium chalets were in their own little annex, near the indoor pool, and had the benefit of air con, dishwasher, lovely big outdoor gas grill etc., air con was a life saver as it was 36 degrees for first few days. The site has mainly French holiday makers, some Dutch and a few English families. The on-site shop was great for morning pastries. We didn’t need kids club and didn’t see much of the entertainment. You needed to reserve to eat at the restaurant; we didn’t use this either as met up with friends in the evening.||The area is great, we haven’t been that far South before, it is 3.5 hours drive from St Malo ferry and 4 hours to Caen. L’Aiguillon sur mer is quite small, but has a few cafes and town centre, the best thing is the man made lake with lovely beach, safe swimming and lots of water activities; this is 5 minutes drive from campsite - you could walk it but not carrying beach gear; parking right next to the beach was free.||Further afield, we went to La Tranche Sur Mer a few times, bigger town, fab beach and market square. We also went to the Puy du Fou historic theme park, which is just over an hour away, they sell tickets in campsite reception, it’s a amazing place. There were lots of other activities in the area; water parks, activity centres, La Rochelle is an hour further South. Would recommend the Vendée area, and this campsite is...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our stay at this site a couple of weeks back. After a visit to Disneyland Paris we drove down to this site for a week and it was perfect after a busy couple of days at Disneyland. We spent most of the time in the pool which is excellent! We have 4 young children and the pool is ideal with roughly half of the pool being shallow, an additional smaller pool with slide for the little ones and a bigger slide (which our kids loved!) with another small pool. There is also a lifeguard always on duty. There was a park with a zip wire right by our holiday home which was again great for the kids and a larger park near the pool which was fantastic and includes a free of charge bouncy castle! The park isn't huge so everything is nearby. Another indoor pool too if the weather is bad! Our holiday home was spacious and clean. There is a restaurant and a takeaway on site and also a large Super U less than a 5 minute drive. More importantly I found all the staff to be excellent! Most of the guests are French, we saw a couple of other families from the Uk but mainly French, however all the staff spoke good English and made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The entertainment can also be enjoyed by all regardless of the language. Nice beach nearby around 5...
