We arrived here on a very hot day and were very pleased to see the well shaded plot we were given, with high hedges and some trees to keep the sun off. The plots are well laid out and roomy, our had its own water tap as well as electricity.|The site has a swimming pool which always puts the price up, whether you use it or not, but it was popular with families as you'd expect. |There were some problems with the hot water systems while we were there: the washing up area had none, and it appeared that some campers also had issues with their hot water in the chalets. The engineers were in putting them right as we were leaving, however. |We didn't feel that the management were that welcoming, and other campers said the same thing, but we still had a good stay. The nearby town of Mervent is a pretty enough place with a small grocery store but not a lot more in the way of shops. There is a tourist information centre, however, and a water sports centre which we personally made good use of hiring canoes twice, next to a lakeside/café...
Read moreWe had the misfortune to spend one night at this campsite and although we had originally intended to spend a few days we could not leave fast enough in the morning. The night was ruined by a large group making noise until after 6 in the morning. The campsite management had put a notice on the reception door saying that they were unavailable for the evening so clearly knew to expect complaints. We were not the only group who were unhappy in the morning and at least one group was talking about refusing to pay. The facilities are extremely dated, with urinals and WCs in a small outdoor area. The disabled facilities are effectively non existent despite the claims of the management. Note the attached photo of the door to the disabled toilet which was blocked by a washing machine and chairs, and in any case was locked. If the price of the camping had been halved it would still have been over priced even without the noise and lack of sleep we suffered. I would recommend you...
Read moreWe've been coming to La Joletière for years now, drawn both by the location in the heart of the really magnificent Mervent Forest and by the welcoming atmosphere of the site itself.||||This is not a big site. It doesn't have all the whistles & bells. What it does have is very pleasant and helpful new owners (who have really started to leave their own mark on the site), an excellent heated / covered swimming pool that is fabulous for children, generous sized pitches, a good play area and a very serviceable bar / restaurant. ||||An easy walk from the village of Mervent (and the local authority have just invested in new paths) and a number of restaurants. The whole of the forest is on the doorstep - it is possible to walk for hours in magnificent near solitude. ||||The site has pitches for tents, caravans / motor homes and there also a number of mobile homes / chalets for rent.||||This is a lovely, quiet, site and is absolutely ideal for...
