When visiting France to find a destination wedding venue we fell in love with Chateau de Bourneau on our very first visit. Nothing else would do from that very moment. The grandeur of the grounds and warmth of the very welcoming and attentive hosts helped us visualise our dreams and started a wonderful journey to our big day.
As a wedding venue we were offered incredible value considering the multiple sites and options for a completely bespoke wedding. Youre in great hands with their recommended planner who delivered the wedding of our dreams. We utilised the space accross the grounds to host different parts of the celebration and there was ample contingency for weather (a spot of rain wasnt an issue). There is variety and excitement for the guests as each new location is introduced. The ruined orangery is beautiful, and an idyllic compliment to the chateau itself up on the hill in the meadow. The Gites were offered to our friends and family and again offer great value - they really came to life as part of the venue. They are designed for socialising and were filled with laughter as our guests arrived and explored. We have as many memories from the gites as we do the chateau.
In a minefield of 'wedding businesses', the hosts should be immensely proud of their service which is intimate and personal. You are not on a conveyor belt. They welcome you to share their home, and their passion for the heritage and history of the Chateau is beautiful. We are delighted to have held the wedding of our dreams in their wonderful slice of France. We will be back to enjoy anniversaries and milestones in the future.
Thank you - you really do make...
Read moreWe loved our stay at Le Foret in August 2024. It is a beautiful cottage in the grounds of an amazing Chateau. I can't recommend it enough. You share the grounds with 3 other cottages but each cottage has its own private garden and swimming pool and our garden was not overlooked. The cottage was lovely - 5 nice bedrooms (2 in an annexe that opens directly onto the swimming pool and garden). The cottage was a good size for our party of 8 people. The kitchen was large and contained 2 fridge freezers . The gas cooker was ok although one ring didn't work and induction would be a lot faster. There is ample parking a minute's walk from the cottages in a large, shaded gravel car park. The grounds of the chateau consist of meadows and woodland and are perfect for walks and picnics. The village of Bourneau currently has no shops or bars but is pleasant and quiet. There are two good towns nearby and a beautiful village - Vouvant - just 10 mins away.
The only downside of our stay was that we weren't there for longer. There seems to be so much to explore and discover. We would certainly consider staying at one of the Chateau de Bourneau cottages again if we...
Read moreWhat a remarkable place and fantastic experience. The gorgeous holiday homes at Bourneau are not only spotless, extremely well cared for and fascinating historically, but they have such great facilities - each one has a beautiful garden and pool and comes with its own unique character. What I liked was that It really makes bringing a big group here special - you have the choice to stay in your own house or to mingle together. I think what made it most special however, was the warmth of the welcome from owners Erin and JB. Fluent in both French and English, they went above and beyond to make sure that we had an amazing time. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and we could tell that they had put so much care and attention into the buildings. The icing on the cake was the backdrop of the magnificent chateau, the beautiful grounds, and the pretty village of Bourneau. What a wonderful treat of a stay. Many thanks to the lovely Erin and JB - quite as dedicated and kind as you come across on your marvellous...
