I booked Les Hirondelles when attending a wedding in nearby Forbach. The location is extremely convenient, right off of the autoroute. The home is comfortable and charming, each room has a lot of character and makes you feel "right at home." The stars of this lodging are the owners Philippe and Christiane- welcoming, warm, flexible, interested. I literally felt that I was staying with my favorite relatives. Although breakfast is the only meal on offer (and it is really nice), Christiane offered to make me a choucroute garnie for 20 people. I was hoping to share the local cuisine with the wedding couple and their family on the night after the wedding- Yazidis from Iraq who recently moved to Forbach to be closer to their family members in Germany. The point is not the food, it is the spirit of generosity and friendliness. Even the other guests at our communal breakfast table were interesting and friendly. I brought with me another refugee from Syria who currently lives in Augsburg. He also said he felt that we were staying with our friends. A...
Read moreWe arrived not knowing what to expect, and was pleasantly surprised.||The owner showed us into a large farmhouse kitchen ( breakfast area) and then took us to our room, it had lots of old furniture and features, beams, stone walls etc and was huge!||The bathroom was also huge with a Jacuzzi bath and separate toilet .||The bed was large and cosey, nice white sheets and duvets,||The only disappointment was the towels they where small and very thin, and because we had a shower before we went out they where still wet the next morning, as the heated towel rail didn't work. The room was a little cold, as it was cold for the time of the year.||The breakfast was good Plum tart, Chocolate Pastrys, cheese, fresh bread, and the homemade apple juice was lovely- pity none for sale to take home, plus homemade jams and local honey||The owner was very helpful recommending a pizza restaurant, down the hill and left at the church called Mistral- it was the best Pizza we have ever had, and we were on our way back from 2 weeks in Italy, plus unbelievably cheap, 25 Euros including drinks ||Overall a very good experience and if where in that area again, we would return both to the hotel and...
