I already had negative thoughts in mind prior to arrival. Our group of 40 was coming by bus from Italy. We heard that there would be no one in reception when we would arrive, at a little after 8 pm. In addition to that we were told that the pool would be closed at 6 pm, which was after our arrival. Having a group of high school students and nothing to do at that point in the day was disappointing.
Once we arrived, I felt a little better about the accommodations. It was a very nice looking place with good security. I was initially impressed by the room as well. It looked modern with nice amenities. The living area and separate sleeping area were compact but fine for the two of us. We had a refrigerator and a kitchen area with a sink, stovetop, plates, utensils, cookware etc.
As we started to get settled in, we noticed that the room wasn't very clean. There was hair and other debris on the floor. The bathroom mirror was very dirty and there was an empty shampoo bottle in the shower. There were dishes in the dishwasher and a large greasy spot on the table in the living area. We can't be sure how well everything else was cleaned but all that I mentioned did not leave a good impression. There were also no cleaning supplies like paper towels or cleaning solution. There was a vacuum, so I vacuumed the floor.
The bed was smaller than expected so I decided to sleep in the bunk bed instead. This was a better place for me because it was closer to the air conditioner and therefore cooler. The air conditioner provided some relief but it wasn't great. That combined with a heavy duvet didn't make for a great night of sleep. There was not a lighter sheet so the duvet gave the only option to cover with. I can say that the bed was comfortable and not too hard.
The breakfast on the first morning was underwhelming. There was no coffee and very little to drink otherwise. The food offerings were ok but not up to par with what you would expect from a hotel breakfast. The food handling and preparation was not what I would consider sanitary. Examples are the staff manually handling food without gloves, dumping food on the table and then arranging it on plates. They would have been better to say they don't serve breakfast and let us go somewhere else for that meal.
The second day had different issues. In the early evening the fire alarm went off in two buildings and we had to evacuate. Eventually, the alarm was turned off but we had heard from other guests that the same thing had happened 3 other times this week before we arrived. Some time after midnight we were again awoken by the blaring fire alarm. We weren't allowed to bring pitchforks and torches on the plane but if we had them this is the time the riot would have started. After the bloodlust subsided we eventually fell back to sleep. The hotel really needs to address this issue.
The kids did get to use the pool on the second day and also used the small soccer area. They seemed to enjoy those activities.
Finally, the breakfast on the second day was slightly better. At least there was coffee.
If you managed to read all of this, you know why I'm giving such a poor review. Hopefully, this helps the hotel make the necessary adjustments but more importantly I hope it helps you make a more informed decision on whether to stay...
Read moreAbsolutely abysmal service. We were here in February for over a week and we didnt get any new towels or change of sheets in that time. You only get one big towel and that's it. There are no hand towels to dry your hands. Nothing. The AC was and still is broken and the rooms are cold. It took over 5 days of the bathroom being open and the towel rack and heater to do some work and bring the temperature to some normal levels. We also had to get our own trash bags because extra ones were not supplied or given to us after we requested them. The rooms also use codes to open and all the rooms shared the same codes. The room and gate codes were also changed several times during our stay at seemingly random intervals. The sink in one of the bathrooms was also clogged up and retaining water and it took us days of asking to finally get that fixed. We also had breakfast included. Which was extremely poor. A single baguette with a bit of jam and a croissant. The breakfast never came before 9 in the morning and was left in the lobby of the hotel in bags with the room numbers on it. It was left there openly for anyone to take or tamper with. Absolutely awful experience overall. Don't come here.
Edit: The windows were not open at all. We were literally staying with our jackets on for days because it was that cold. You think we would keep a window open? What an absolutely...
Read moreEvancy review||We arrived late in the evening so reception was closed but the check in process was very easy and all automated with codes for gates and doors.|We were really disappointed by the standard of cleanliness on arrival in the apartment. It didn’t appear to have been vacuumed and the kitchen sink and fridge were not clean. Three of the four bunks had the covers made up and the fourth just had a duvet thrown on top and no pillow which made me doubt all beds had been turned over properly.|The security of the apartment door bothered us. There was no mechanism to lock it from the inside. As soon as the handle was pushed down the door would automatically unlock and open. This is really unsafe with young children who could so easily wander off. The shutters to the patio doors were very welcome though.|This accommodation would suit someone looking for a quiet escape but if you want somewhere with an atmosphere and a hotel-feel, this is not the right place as there is no staff anywhere and no entertainment (we knew this before we arrived and we were fine with that) it’s really more like a residential apartment block. |The facilities are very good but all in all, I just couldn’t relax and enjoy my stay due to the substandard level of cleanliness, which was a shame. Absolutely wouldn’t recommend and won’t be back, for...
