I cannot recommend this campsite to anyone. You'd be better off going almost anywhere else, and I frankly wish we had.

If you do decide to risk it, make absolutely sure you arrive by 7pm. If you dare come slightly later, the owner will refuse to answer the phone until your fourth or fifth attempt, although when he does he will certainly take his time to berate you, insult you, and repeatedly imply you are stupid.

Fortunately this 7pm cut off is mentioned on the door of the reception, as the owner made sure to point out to us idiots. Clearly it is our fault we were unable to divine this fact from the distance of several hundred miles. Sadly, however, it was not mentioned in the booking email or in the terms and conditions.

Neither does the campsite appear to have a 24/7 warden, as is required of 3 star campsites. Certainly we could find nothing but cats and other guests who hinted darkly at some malevolent force lurking on the grounds of the site.

At this point we could have abandoned the enterprise and taken our chances in the hills, where no doubt the wolves of the region would have given our small tent a warm welcome. The owner was keen to suggest this as an option - no joke, sadly. If it were not for the high prepaid fee (fat chance of a refund from this guy!) I probably would have preferred to risk it.

The terms and conditions themselves contain several odd lines that make me further doubt the good intentions of the owners. The toilets were modern, but smelly and apparently home to several animals. We did not see them, but other guests assured us they were lurking there, waiting for the lights to turn off. Neither did the site seem to accept bank card payments, although the T&C says they are in fact approved.

There is apparently a swimming pool. We did not see it. After the unwelcome arrival we left as soon as possible the next morning. I only wish we had left sooner.

Oh, and if you do decide to go, don't forget to bring a good mosquito repellant

In response to the response: Politeness costs nothing, 24/7 presence seems to require taking more than an hour and a half to respond (no, we did not arrive at 9.45pm, but that was probably the time when they finally answered the phone), the guy insisted on being paid in cash on day (and gave this horrible arrogant smirk when the card machine was pointed out), we left before 8am the next day, and frankly, a bit of a better attitude from the owner would have avoided any kind of...

The pitches were allocated so no possibility to choose your own, which is a shame but kinda understandable. We were shown a different pitch when asked which was nice. We decided to stay at the original one though.

It was nice to order fresh baguettes/crossaints every morning or get cold drinks from the onsite little shop.

The swimming pool was lovely. New schezlongs, shade from the old olive tree, clean water.

The toilet block was filthy. I literally could use only 2 of the toilets as there were huge spiders in the rest of them. Toilet paper placed outside, so the owner don't have to check every single toilet. Better not forget to get it! It was ma new thing for all of us..

The worst thing was that my mum lost her dress! She accidentally left it in the shower, and apparently the cleaning lady hanged it on the main door, where someone stole it. Any lost and found stuff should be taken to the reception!

Out of our 5 nights there 2 we didn't have any peace and quiet. On the 1st night the neighbours on the pitch next to us were super loud. There were like 10 adults and 10 kids running like crazy through our pitch - that was the reason we asked for a different pitch. The owner told us to just asked them to be quiet.. obvious, yet a bit strange solution. I would expect the owner to sort that issue, especially these people were heard on the whole campsite!

On our last day some film makers arrived, which the owner told us about after we arrived on the 1st day. They started arriving in the morning, by evening I felt like sleeping on Tesco car park. So many cars and vans parked on nearby pitches. People walking around, talking loud on their phones. That lasted till after midnight!!! I felt so sorry for people with kids who were located even closer to them than us..

I believe the owner should of close the campsite if wanted to invite some film makers. We paid to have peaceful and relaxing time.

I definitely did not feel relaxed passing by a bunch of stressed people working on the movie, in my...

Slightly tricky to get to, but well worth the effort. The site, accessed by a road that used to be a railway line, is set amongst elderly olive trees. The pitches are gravel/grass with electricity on some of them. The toilet and shower block are clean and well maintained, the toilet paper is mounted on the wall outside the cubicles, make sure to grab some before you go into the cubicles! The swimming pool is small, but well located and catches the late afternoon sun. The lady that welcomed us had a very small amount of English, but our French should be better! She was helpful and explained everything in patient tones and we understood what we needed to do. Having paid the balance of our fee; the deposit was paid and the booking made through Pitch Up, we just drove into the site and found a pitch we liked. In early September the site was not very busy. Bring dinner and drinks as it doesn't seem like there is anywhere to eat or drink out within walking distance. Just be aware that we didn't research this in detail, and didn't explore extensively, so may not be accurate in this respect. It's a lovely site and perfect if you need to be in reasonably close proximity to Nice, Cannes and Antibes, but probably better if you are looking to escape the latter and have a few days of down time. Our idea of perfect, not sophisticated, just very rural with enough facilities to make it civilised.

We spent two weeks here and had the most amazing stay. The hosts Anna and Jose’ do everything possible to make you feel welcome. Nothing is too much trouble. The shower block is clean and there are various pitch sizes available set among olive trees. This is very much a back to nature site which suited us. The biggest plus is it’s location. Just a few minutes drive from the beautiful Medieval town of Tourette sur loup. And there are many more beautiful towns and villages to visit. St Paul de Vence is a must visit. But try to also go to Valbonne and Mougins. It’s a half hour drive to the sea front with all the amenities. Monaco, Nice, and Antibes are all within an hour of the campsite. We will definitely return. Thank you Anna and Jose’ for your hospitality.
