Having booked very last minute, we didn't really know what to expect from Chalet Morville: we just wanted a fun family skiing holiday, but, wow, were our expectations surpassed! From the excellent comms pre our arrival (even offering to look after a teenage member of our party who was arriving earlier than us at Grenoble airport), advice on ski hire & ski passes, to the very helpful orientation in the resort itself - Jules (poor Sue out of action wth a broken leg), could not have been more welcoming.||||If you like (and we do) authentic French villages, then Venosc can't fail to hit the spot. At this time of year, it wont entertain party-minded teenagers, but the beautiful cobbled medieval streets, friendly residents, fabulous Dolilou restaurant and jaw dropping views from this hillside chalet far outweigh the lack of après-ski. The chalet is so spacious, big sofas, spread throughout the main living area on split levels, big bedrooms - all spotlessly clean, VERY comfortable and proper views in all directions - the hot tub, sauna, games room and cinema all kept our teenagers (never mind us parents) more than entertained post skiing. There was also a dedicated heated ski/boot room which was fantastic for our soggy ski kit after a big dump of snow. We didn't take advantage of the gym - but it did look very well equipped. ||||Don't let the idea of a gondola put you off - Jules dropped us off every morning at the bubble (2 mins in the minibus), 5 minutes up the hill and a brisk 5 minute walk (or catch the ski bus) to the ski hire shop - skis on, and hit the slopes just ouside its door - then exactly the same in reverse to get back at the end of the day. If you are feeling energetic, we loved the walk down the hill from Les 2 Alpes to Venosc - breath taking (but the drop is not for the faint hearted). We walked back up to the chalet - it is a very pretty walk through the Village, but apparently this season we are the only guests to have done so, and I can imagine with smaller children or snowy streets, a lift woud be essential - Jules was always ready any time to pick us up - we couldn't quite believe how easy he made it for us! ||||The absolute icing on the cake of our ski holiday were the fabulous Zak and Meghane - the cooking was first class - not at all your bog standard mass chalet fayre, but well thought out menus, using local ingrédients and presented with real attention to detail. We couldn't décide on our favourite meal - his Beetroot 3 ways will go down in family legend (managing to convert a reluctant teenager to the joy of beetroot). Unforgettable duck, pork loin, braised lamb, Ardeche trout, the lightest lemon meringue pie, beautiful bakewell tart (as you can tell - all engraved on our memories). A cooked breakfast every day to set up the day's skiing - a 'cake of the day' to welcome us back. Meghane looked after us so well - more ike a 5 star hotel than a chalet - clearing up behind us all so discreetly: it really was a complete holiday for us (we barely lifted a finger all week - it felt rather decadent, but extremely spoiling). A big thank you to Meghane for driving us to and back from Alpe d'Huez so that we could take advantage of the exchange day on our ski pass. This was brilliant and we would highly recommend taking up their very kind offer of enabling you to explore further afield. Really nothing seemed too much for the Chalet Morville team.||||We can't recommend the chalet highly enough - and I suspect it will be just as special in the summer months. A huge thank you to you all for a fantastic start to our Easter holidays and a truly unforgettable ski holiday....
Read moreWe visited Chalet Morville and Deux Alpes for the first time this year, as a group of 9 friends. We booked relatively last minute following the lifting of travel restrictions to France from the UK, and would have been happy to stay anywhere to get back on the slopes but we got really lucky with Chalet Morville - it was the nicest chalet we've ever stayed and we've been to quite a few!||||The chalet is beautiful inside and out, with spectacular mountain views all around. Definitely make sure you go outside and look at the stars in the evening too. The rooms are all a good size and standard - all ensuite with big comfy beds and good showers (one room has a bath too). ||||Jules and Sue were lovely hosts, they went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Communication before booking was very friendly and informative - quick responses to all our questions and nothing too much trouble.||Jules showed us round Deux Alpes on arrival, and gave us tips of where to eat/ski.||One of our party had travel disruptions and arrived on a delayed last flight in to Grenoble, and Jules still went to pick him up from Bourg D'Oisans even after midnight.||The gondola transfer into the main resort of Deux Alpes was easy - Jules/Sue dropped us off every morning, and when we were getting on the gondola down at the end of the day we'd call and they would be waiting at the bottom by the time we got down. Having a minibus and a car meant all 9 of us could go at the same time if we wanted to, so no waiting for the other half of the group to arrive.||We stored all our ski gear at the rental shop or at lockers in town, meaning getting to the slopes was a pleasant stroll through the village rather than lugging everything around!||||Food was great - delicious, big portions, plenty of variety on the menu and catering for a few dietary requirements. Fizz and canapes before dinner every evening too, luxury! ||We ate at Le Cours de Vie restaurant in Venosc on the chalet night off, which was lovely and only a couple of minutes walk away, though there was also the option to go back into deux alpes as the gondola runs late on thursdays if we had been feeling more adventurous.||||All in all a great holiday, our only dilemma was wanting to ski as much as possible but also get back early enough to make the most...
Read moreWe were two couples who had a wonderful ski holiday at Chalet Morville. As well as Jules and Sue, the owners, who transferred us from the airport, and made sure of our every need, their chalet hosts, Zach and Megane, cooked fantastic meals and kept the chalet perfectly tidy and clean. Nothing was too much trouble for our friendly hosts, even to making homemade oat milk when overhearing a conversation that we were going to try to purchase some in the supermarket. ||Venosc is a quiet but quaint medieval village, with lots of charm. Jules and Sue offered to take us to the cable car each morning, but we preferred to walk down through the beautiful cobbled lanes. We did, however, accept the offer of the uphill return journey after our day on the slopes! And we would advise accepting the lift when there is snow or ice in the village.||We have stayed in many ski chalets over the years and this one is luxurious and one of the best, with its sauna, hot tub, games room and cinema room. Our room was excellent, with a view over the stunning valley. We would highly recommend this chalet as a base for a good ski holiday, and hope to return with our family, next time we can...
