I want to send Evelyne a big hug for giving us such an amazing experience. We (a couple) stayed three nights here while we explored the area, in La Chambre Noisette, which was a large and beautifully decorated room with a separate large bathroom (well, it didn't have a bath, but an excellent shower, basin and loo) - so don't forget to bring a dressing-gown. The bedroom overlooked a stream and the double bed was very comfortable though was two beds together with their own duvets (as is often the case in Alsace). The highlight of our stay was the dinners cooked by Evelyne (which we asked for as there are few restaurants in Reichshoffen and not many open at the start of a week). Evelyne's dinners were easily restaurant-quality, and made with extremely high quality ingredients, served in her large relaxing dining/sitting room. Her tarts are amazing - the first day she made us a leek, Munster cheese and ham tart which was to-die-for, and the second day there was a lovely apple tart for pudding. In addition to this she asked us what we wanted to drink and introduced us to some local wines which were very good. The dinners with wine were extremely good value for money and we loved them. Evelyne is a treasure. She knows where to buy all the best ingredients - the croissants at breakfast were the best we have had, and she also provided really good cheeses etc.. Yum. Convenient car park just outside, always had spaces in, and free. You will want to drive to sights and walks, as Reichshoffen itself isn't much (though there are some lovely old houses and a tiny park just around near La...
Read moreEvelyne greeted us so warmly and as if old friends or family. She made us instantly welcome, dispelling any vestige of weariness from a long journey. ||Our room, Noisette, was spacious and wonderfully cool despite the heat outside, and remarkably quiet, apart from the soothing sound of the mill stream under the window.||Evelyne explained that we were to treat the house as our own home and we were as welcome in the kitchen as in the comfortable accommodation. Our adjoining bathroom was well equipped, efficient, and very pleasantly furnished.||Evelyn invited us to dine with her and a few friends on our first night, it being a Monday when many good restaurants were shut. We had a delightful evening on her terrace beside the stream- no mosquitos at all!- in excellent multi-lingual company; Evelyn's home cuisine being as understandably legendary as her hospitality it was easy to see why her home was such a magnet for friends to visit. ||We had full-day business meetings across the Rhine over the whole week and it was always a joy to get back "home" every evening to Evelyne and the peace and comfort of her special home. ||The house is filled with interesting and beautiful items, yet clearly a family home. ||As it turned out we dined every evening, save one, with her and assorted charming friends. ||Our stay at La Renardiere was such that a week of business meetings turned out to be a wonderful and memorable holiday. We left with so many happy memories, a determination to return, and having found a truly lovely...
Read moreEvelyne's small and peaceful B&B was just what we hoped to find after a long drive! A cosy and welcoming place on our way to the south. Evelyne made us feel immediately like home. We had one of the two rooms. Our room was full of light, spacious and beautifully decorated. You can say the same even about the bathroom.||||We left one of the windows open for the night - what a great feeling to hear the river slowly flowing and see the trees bending over the river from the other side. ||In the evening we walked through the village (max 10 minutes) to a restaurant in a bright blue building - and we ate so well and wine so good that we needed to buy some to take with us.||And what a wonderful breakfast on the small walled patio on the riverside. Everything so fresh and tasty - local cheeses, ham, a croissant directly from the local bakery with a heavenly good cafe au lait. What else you can wish? The small garden around us was full of flowers. ||A perfect place for the couples who love travelling in a countryside and hope to find the perfect place for a romantic breakfast. We only wish we had had more...
