Le Moulin Calme — Hotel in La Flèche

Booked Le Moulin Calme as a one off whist travelling through France. Had a quick look on-line for somewhere close to where we wanted to be and this place came up. Once you arrive in Luceau, it is not clearly sign posted but we managed to find it ok. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here and will return. ||This B&B may not be to everyone's taste as it is very quiet and tranquil and bit off of the beaten track, (no pub within walking distance) however it was very comfortable and clean.||Marie-Anise and Eric's English is very limited - and so is our French however this was not a problem and added a bit of fun to our stay! We were given a warm welcome and shown to our room which was up a flight of stairs at the end of the building. Lovely large clean room with en-suite, but note there is no TV in the room which didn't bother us. At night, in the dark we could hear the hooting of owls and could see the stars through the Velux ceiling windows.||The property is situated on the edge of a mill pond which you can walk around, with plenty of chairs and sun loungers dotted around the pond for you to relax on in the sun! There is a dinghy which holds 4 people comfortably if you wanted to relax and paddle through the pond! There are fish in the pond with ducks and swans. A covered swimming pool sits to one side of the pond, (the pool has a plastic poly tunnel like covering). There is also a sauna and steam room. ||Our evening meal was a bit of a surprise as we could not read the menu - obviously as it was written in French! So each course was a surprise but a very pleasant surprise indeed. We enjoyed every course, e.g. fish and veg for mains, strawberry tart for dessert. ||Breakfast, again served outside as it was very hot when we stayed here, was very French! (Croissants, bread, eggs etc). ||The only thing I would say is that if you had very small children then this could possibly not be a suitable place to stay, as the pond is...

Le moulin a cessé, le calme est resté !|||| Calme des eaux paisibles des deux étangs !|||| Majesté des cygnes noirs et des canards qui glissent en silence !|||| Sérénité des poules fouillant le sol… Se dandinant.|||| Calme et sourire des hôtes, accueillants, bienveillants.|||| Ici, le temps s’arrête. Entre les grands espaces champêtres, le jacuzzi, le SPA et autre sauna, tout n’est que contemplation, bien être.|||| Pour passer la nuit, une chambre tout confort, aux dimensions de celles de palaces.|||| Puis, après une petite marche dans les bois environnants, arrive l’heure fatidique du repas. Le couvert est mis en terrasse, vue sur l’étang. Les cygnes noirs s’approchent, une poule noire aussi. Elle vient picorer, piocher dans l’herbe verte entre la terrasse et le plan d’eau.|||| Que voit-elle ?|||| Moi, dégustant un excellent whisky écossais et me régalant de rillettes, chips et autre chou rouge vinaigrette ?|||| Elle est pas belle la vie !|||| Il fait vingt-cinq degrés, un petit filet de vent me ventile juste ce qu’il faut, pour une fois je suis zen, je suis juste bien ! Point.|||| Le temps s’écoule, doucement, s’égrène, Calme au moulin calme !|||| Sérénité. Plaisir d’apprécier le bonheur simple de la journée qui s’endort, en pleine nature, |||| Bienvenue au Moulin calme – Luceau.|||| Les hôtes généreux et aimants (ça se sent!) servent le repas maintenant.|||| Quelle belle assiette à cette table d’hôte !|||| Couleurs, lumières, agencement de l’assiette réalisé avec goût, que dis-je, art.|||| Comment magnifier des filets de poulet grillés, des petits légumes du jardin et du riz bazmati en un grand plat aux multiples saveurs ?|||| Une seule recette : De bons ingrédients, le « coup de main » de la cuisinière et une bonne dose d’amour.|||| Déjà, un grand écrivain (moi, un mètre cinquante-huit!) a écrit : « Cuisiner c’est Aimer ».||||Ici, il y en a de l’Amour, c’est certain ! ||||Ici, le temps laisse s’exprimer les plaisirs simples mais uniques.|||| Un jour, quand je l’aurai rencontrée, ici j’emmènerai ma chérie, je reviendrai avec elle, j’espère…|||| Fin de dîner et plaisir sucré de fraises qui (comme c’est étrange et de plus en plus rare!) ont le goût de fraises. Authentique, voila le qualificatif qui me vient. |||| Je peux, alors que le patron m’offre un rhum arrangé aux goûts multiples, profiter de ces moments uniques de communion avec la nature. Repu, juste bien !|||| Merci madame, monsieur, le Moulin calme. Je parle parfois comme un moulin à paroles mais ce soir je me sens à ma place, calme.|||| Alors, venez, s’il vous plaît, au Moulin calme. Vous passerez de très heureux moments entre promenades, discutions et dégustations. Et vous recevrez, (et donnerez je l’espère) une bonne dose d’Amour, car ici, on n’en manque pas !||||Merci pour ce moment...

😊: The small hotel is in a beautiful, quiet location next to a fishing lake. We arrived too late to use the spa facilities but good to have them available. The Managers are very friendly and greeted us warmly. The dinner was very good and at a reasonable price. Our room was spacious with very comfortable beds and a good size bathroom. Breakfast was good and my food allergy was well catered for. There's a 22KW electric charger just outside the hotel, so ideal for electric vehicle users. The hotel has easy access to the motorway and is only a couple of hours from the ferry port at Caen, making it a useful location to stop...
