Camping White Island — Hotel in La Rochelle

Family Holiday. We had a lovely family holiday on Ille de Re, we will most certainly be back, we particularly like La Flotte and St Martin de Re, so great to have them so close. The downside to the location of the site is the very busy road. The staff were helpful, the facilities were good including the swimming pool which is ideal being half covered as the weather was a little unpredictable during our stay. The mobile home was on a nice pitch that got it's share of sun and shade all day long and the mobile home was a good size. The only criticism I would have is that the bed was queen size, un-necessary in a room of that size and we were not advised of this so I brought double fitted bed sheets with me which of course wouldn't fit - the mattress protector provided was also too small being double size too. I personally would prefer to have a duvet provided as most people use duvet covers now and I am not keen on the idea of blankets that are probably used without cover by other guests. We put the blanket inside a duvet but his wasn't very successful. In addition, the kitchen could be better equipped. There were no lids to the saucepans, very few cooking utensils eg. slotted spoon, kitchen scissors etc. This may be an English thing but a toaster would be nice as there was no grill. With the lack of a grill or oven it would also be a good idea to provide a combination oven/grill/ microwave instead of the simple microwave provided. Bike Hire on site was good value, the bread ordering service is great, I cannot comment on the restaurant because we didn't use it and the entertainment on site was not particularly our cup of tea but everyone seemed to enjoy it and it was nice to see people coming together. The site itself is fine and well located. |The major problem was the rude reception we received upon arrival.|Two hostile women in the office refused to let my husband through the car barrier and denied we had a booking, despite us having received 2 letters confirming in the previous few weeks. They then insisted we had booked for Monday, not Saturday, and basically said they could do nothing to resolve the problem. It then transpired that another couple with the same surname were booked for Monday, After arguing amongst themselves and continuing to be rude, they miraculously found our booking. No apology was made. We were made to feel like it was our fault! Not a great welcome.|We did not rent our bikes from the campsite or use the restaurant as we did not wish to face these people again.|On departure, we were faced with an equally rude man who had a tantrum and stormed off when he came to check our mobile home as we were still moving a last couple of things out before his inspection. |Overall, the site is fine but the staff could do with going on a customer service...

⚠️!!! CAMPING A FUIR !!! ⚠️ Ne vous faites pas avoir! Mobilhome hors d'âge louer très cher Équipement vieillot qui manque cruellement d'entretien! Le frigo a fini par congelé notre nourriture! Les poêle sont rouiller et le chalumeau pour le gaz à moitié fondu ( merci la sécurité) MÉNAGE INEXISTANT ! honteux de louer un logement dans cette état! Moustique écraser au plafond, poussière, café moulu autour de la cafetière a notre arrivé , encadrement de fenêtre encrassé, sympa pour des vacances avec un bébé ! J'attend la réponse de la gérante qui va sûrement démentir sous prétexte d'avoir que des bons commentaires ( vrai ou faux ? ) Literie à ressort, avec des taches et attention aux lattes du lit en vous allongeant! Pas d'eau chaude et pas de chasse d'eau ( Réponse de la gérante : mais voyons le gaz coûte trop cher ) Vous voulez manger dehors ? La nappe pour extérieure à pourrie ! ( réponse de la gérante : c'est de la faute des clients ça ! " Une des fenêtres oscillo battante mes tomber dessus en ouvrant après ma douche. Après 2 jours et demi et 3 visites à l'accueil nous avons décider d'aller trouver une solution pour vite partir ou être reloger. Charmante proposition de la gérante après un échange houleux sans aucune remise en question de sa part : " mais voyons partez sinon vous allez ruminer dans votre mobilhome , je vous rembourse le séjour" au moment de rendre les clefs après avoir charger en 1h, elle nous a rembourser uniquement les nuits non séjourner. Aucun geste commercial de sa part pour avoir gâcher nos 1er vacances en famille Ne vous faites pas berner ! Je cherche encore les 4 étoiles ! Il y a des camping au même prix sur l'île avec beaucoup plus de standing et moins d'étoiles! Et ne me faites pas passer pour une menteuse comme vous avez fait en réponse à vos autres commentaires négatifs et bien réelles je dois le dire !
