We had a brilliant time at Le Puits Sainte-Claire. The turquiose room was lovely and bright and one of the best guest house rooms we have stayed in. The house and gardens are beautiful. We spent one day in the sun relaxing by the pool and it was lovely. I would keep alternating between under the shade of the trees and in the sun. The pool is also fantastic as it is indoor but opens up to be outdoor in the hot weather. At about 3.30pm, Fabienne came out with ice creams for us. On our other days, we explored the area including a boat trip in the Marais Poitevin (which Fabienne organised for us), a day trip to La Rochelle, a trip to Rochefort and a trip to Cognac. ||||Breakfasts were amazing and filled us up for the day. Fabienne's homemade yoghurt was delicious and we loved the local cake made with goats cheese.||||We went to the local restaurant (La Cremaillere) three times and ate delicious home-cooked and simple food. The local hotel (Relais de la Foret) was also good. A couple of the other local restaurants were more disappointing.||||We had a great time and would recommend Le Puits Sainte-Claire to couples...
Read moreWe stayed in the family room for a couple of nights and very much enjoyed our time there. The room is bright, spacious and nicely appointed - with a second smaller room off it with twin beds for the children, which was ideal. ||Breakfast was served in the courtyard each morning and was very nice. There's also a covered/heated pool (which takes up most of the rear garden) - our children loved this!||We spent our middle day cycling around the nearby Marais Poitevin area which was lovely and this B&B provides a good base for that.||The owners are very friendly and helpful - they were happy to book restaurants etc. There's perhaps a little bit of inflexibility around arrival time (between 17.00 and 19.00), but otherwise all good.||The only other point to mention is that parking can be a bit tight if you have a larger car (we did, with a bike rack making it bigger). We found it easier to re-park in the small village square which is close - it certainly wasn't an issue as far as we were concerned.||Highly...
Read moreWe stayed at this delightful home in June for four nights and were totally impressed with the whole experience. The house is beautifully furnished and decorated with impeccable taste and we stayed in the turquoise room which was so pretty. Fabienne gave wonderful breakfasts of home made jams, yogurts and pancakes which were yummy. We were given really helpful information each morning on places to visit and visited La Rochelle, Il De Re and punted on the local marshes one day. We ate in the village and the garden a couple of nights as we had use of the outdoor kitchen and the fantastic covered pool which was a big treat after a long day sightseeing. We had a lovely time and certainly would go back without hesitation. Thank you Fabienne and David for your wonderful...
