Camping Les Capucines — Hotel in Lannion

We have just returned for 10 days on this site, and I wanted to give it 5 stars but I really feel that I cant.||Firstly the owners are really friendly and very helpful and they themselves deserve a 5 star review. Unfortunately the site lets them down.||The site is mixed tourers, tents and rental cabins which resemble posh sheds to be honest. The layout of the site is ok, but needs some more thought and TLC putting in to it. I cant quite put my finger on it, but I suppose Sparse comes to mind. Pitches are big, but are separated by thin, straggly hedges that are not the full length of the pitch, and often quite holey so you dont really feel secluded from your neighbours. The overall site hedges are meticulously maintained with a lot of weird topiary going on.||The other problem is that if you have a fully serviced pitch, your water,waste and electrics are at the front of the pitch and not the back! I have never seen this before. It makes pitching your van difficult in order to get your hoses to reach and we had to have our front windows into the hedge at the back of the pitch in order to get the water and waste at the front of the pitch, meaning our awning was on the "wrong" side, so we were awning to awning with our neighbours, hence the lack of privacy. i dont get this at all.||the swimming pool is lovely. Small but enough to do lengths in and has a lovely sliding roof over it. The bar was dead. I didnt see anyone in it at all and the menu didnt look particularly appertising. We didnt eat in the bar so cant comment on the food, nor did we savour the take aways.||||You can order bread on site and there is quite a large selection to choose from but the bread from the supermarket is better.||||The toilets are a bit weird. I know the French are very keen on wafting their willies in the wind, but I personally dont want to see grown men having a pee!! The urinals are mounted on the outside walls of the toilet block elbow distance from the Elsan emptying point. The Elsan point leaves a lot to be desired. This is the width of your cassette toilet and no more. its very very awkward to find the space to manipulate your toilet at the required angle to empty the contents out of the tube of the Thetford cassette. You then have to reach across the toilet, while trying to balance the cassette onto the rim of a toilet bowl to pull up the flush. The hose is mounted onto the actual cistern, with a hose pipe off that that drops into the bowl and you end up emptying the contents over the hose which you then have to touch. There is no where to actually put your cassette and you end up with wet feet. its not attractive at all and if you have a bad back be warned !||||Wifi! The site advertises free wifi, but this means its free if you are in the immediate bar vacinity. You can purchase wifi on your pitch, which I did but dont do that, as its all a bit of a con. You can only get 1 bar on the signal and often doesnt connect sufficiently to be any use so you end up actually sitting outside in the bar to connect to a wifi you have paid for, that you could have got free. ||||The local area does not hold much interest. The beach is not a pretty beach. A big wide sandy bay with no features and the sea goes out for miles. Its also a steep hill down to the village hence a steep walk back up. Nothing is walking distance.||||There are lots of ports, harbours and beaches that are 15-30 minutes drive away which are really lovely. Morlaix is ok for a day visit but is a bit lacking in atmosphere. Lannion is lovely with a lovely river walk and markets. Plenty of supermarkets a few minutes drive away and roscoff is worth a visit.||||I wouldnt go back to this site myself, but some people love it and have been returning for years and years. We have visited this site for several years and rebooked for 2 weeks again in September through the caravan and motor home club. Unfortunately, on arrival entering the reception area with the car and caravan (new layout) the wheel of the caravan clipped the kerb and knocked a post causing it to become askew. We hardly had time to get out of the car when the very animated angry campsite owner came rushing over gesticulating and extremely unfriendly. He would not accept an apology from us and his very embarrassed wife was hastened to hold the post whilst he set to with a sledgehammer pointing it in the direction of our caravan. He continued this overly aggressive manner towards us when we moved the car and caravan having been asked by reception to select a pitch. He seemed to forget that we are actually his guests and not the sort of welcome you would expect following a trivial accident! I again apologised to the receptionist who I believe was his daughter and later saw his wife who would not give me eye contact. Due to this very uncomfortable and awkward situation we stayed only one night and travelled down the road about 2 miles away to St Efflam Camping Municipal, very friendly and lovely site right next to beautiful beach. Le camping Les Capucines Paradis est un camping sous franchise et annoncé avec 4 étoiles. Entre la franchise et le nombre d'étoiles il est vrai que nous nous attendons à un certain niveau de service, à une équipe au taquet, et à des installations/équipements de qualité. Le camping est équipé d'une piscine , d'une petite épicerie , d'un toboggan, de jeux pour enfants, de tables de ping-pong , d'un city stade permettant de faire du basket , d'une mini ferme... les emplacements sont plutôt grands et comme c'est convenu dans les campings 4 étoiles il y a bien une barrière sécurisée à l'entrée. Il est clair que côté équipements il y a de quoi faire la quantité est au rendez-vous 😉 nous aurions apprécié un accès à la piscine un peu plus tardif malheureusement 19h en vacances lorsque nous rentrons d'une journée de balade c'est très vite venu 😢 et c'est dommage de devoir rester sur le camping pour profiter de la piscine. De même nous aurions aimé un vrai toboggan qui arrive dans la piscine et malheureusement celui-ci est dissocié du bassin, il est vrai que sur le site du camping l'environnement piscine et toboggan n'est pas clairement photographié 😉 l'épicerie est quant à elle probablement plus une plaisanterie qu'un réel endroit où vous pouvez faire quelques courses 🤣 l'épicerie devrait être un endroit où vous trouvez les produits de première nécessité avec quelques produits frais le temps d'aller faire des courses et puis éventuellement quelques produits d'hygiène, malheureusement celle-ci ne contient que quelques bières avec quelques paquets de chips mais bon rien de bien vital, ce n'est pas sérieux. Une petite déception a également été notée sur l'équipement du mobil-home en dehors du fait que l'aération ne semble pas optimisée : nous avons détecté beaucoup de traces de moisissure sur les murs, il est regrettable de ne pas avoir simplement une bouilloire ainsi qu'un sèche-cheveux dans la cuisine et la salle de bain. De même le nombre de poêles dans la cuisine nous a fait sourire : une seule poêle pour un mobil-home de 6 personnes, c'est chaud ! La télé et le micro-ondes, sans exiger un matériel dernier cri, je dois bien avouer que il y avait longtemps que je n'avais pas vu un téléviseur avec une prise péritel qui doit donc dater d'une dizaine d'années 😂 du côté de l'équipe c'est plutôt une bonne note nous avons eu une réponse lors de nos différentes demandes et l'équipe est plutôt réactive, à noter que la responsable des animations avait la pêche ! Un bemol sur Mélanie qui s'occupait du club enfant là encore il y avait longtemps que je n'avais pas vu quelqu'un faire la tronche comme ça, c'est plutôt dommage pour quelqu'un qui s'occupe des enfants dans un camping en période de vacances 🤣 en ce qui concerne l'organisation pour s'inscrire aux différentes activités et au club enfant là encore on sentait un petit flottement dans l'organisation , lorsque on se présente à la réception personne n'est en mesure de nous inscrire sur la bonne liste, pour que notre enfant puisse se présenter au club enfant le lendemain idem il faut trouver la fameuse Mélanie quelque part dans le camping ! Pour conclure, rien de catastrophique, c'est un beau camping, il y a clairement un potentiel pour faire qq chose de sympa mais il y a du travail encore, l'équipe doit se professionnaliser, les équipements proposés aux clients doivent se moderniser et l'épicerie doit être revue pour en devenir réellement une !
