We've stayed at this site twice - in September 2013 and in September 2014 and had great holidays on both occasions. The site is flat and pitches of a good size, with shady, part-shady and sunny pitches all available. The site is close to the river (500m or so away?) although there's no real depth to the river for swimming but it's fine for children (and dogs!). They do canoe trips from the site, I think, although we've never done it. The site facilities are good - reasonably stocked shop, nice bar/terrace/restaurant and the pool, which we don't use, looked nice. As usual for UK caravanners, filling up the aquaroll and emptying the grey waste can be a little challenging but that's normal. The toilets/showers are kept clean and are light and airy. Fabienne, the owner, is super-helpful and speaks good English. The approach to the site can be a little challenging if you approach from the direction of Ruoms/Pradons - there's a long single carriageway bridge then a route around Chauzon to get to the site. We prefer to approach from the north, from the D104. Either direction parts of the final mile through the village are a little narrow. We used the supermarket in Ruoms, although there is a smaller one in Pradons. There are all the usual Ardechois sites to see - Pont d'Arc etc but there are also some nice walks nearby also - the Cirque du Chazon/Les Gens is not for the faint hearted but not...
Read moreEach Tuesday night, they play very loud music until midnight. I understand that many people like this, but I feel the volume was way too loud and midnight is quite late. Our children cried because they couldn't sleep. When I went over to complain, the lady shrugged and said: monsieur, it's holiday...and went on with her work. Please, take other people's feelings into account and try to find a way that is reasonable. For example, turn the volume a bit down and stop at 22/23pm. We are at a camping right now where they play music until 22 and thats fine for everyone. The same atmosphere, the same fun.
The owner has responded to my review, saying I am not allowed to review her campground if I didn't stay there. That is obviously a strange way of thinking. I am just warning other people that there is very loud music. We have been to other campgrounds that play music, and I know this is common practice, and it's fine. I am just saying the volume has to be turned down, as with all other campgrounds we've been to the volume level was totally acceptable. It is just antisocial for others and I am pointing out that there were a lot of people on our campsite that were very much annoyed. I took the trouble of pointing that out to the owner (a walk of 10 mins in pitch dark) but it doesn't seem to get through to...
Read moreThe campsite is right on a beautiful part of the Ardeche river but away from the overcrowded and noisy Vallon Pont d'Arc. ||Well maintained swimming pool.||Shaded pitches.||Good cafe and shop. The cafe has fairly basic menu but they also have specials evenings (such as moules et frites).||Well maintained toilet block (it is reassuring that campsite owners and staff use the same facilities).||Well organised canoe hire (we did the Lanas to La Digue 13km trip which has many rapids but nothing too scary for intermediate level canoers and this stretch of the river was not too busy even in peak period).||The campsite can hire fridges - this is excellent service - however they did not provide the connecting lead between fridge and electric hook up which was disappointing.||There is a disco once a week (which ends at midnight) so not too disruptive. However a neighbouring campsite also holds a disco on another night of the week which is a shame but also ends by midnight. ||||Excellent location - just off the beaten track which gives that feeling of isolation but close by all the Ardeche activities. We canoed, caved and rock climbed. Good...
