Chaillac Chambre d'hôtes — Hotel in Le Blanc

We have stayed numerous times at Matthew's over a number of years and the experience is always wonderful. Matthew is a well travelled person and has many stories to tell. the rooms are extremely large and comfortable and they cater well for us and our fairly large dog.||||The cuisine is excellent and you always feel replete after an evening meal. Matthew always manages to conjure up something that we have not had before. The 3 course meal with wine is excellent value and there is usually an opportunity to try out your French on some of the guests.||||The village is very quiet but there are plenty of walks and the local lake has activities for families throughout the summer. The walks around the lake are great for the dog.||||The b&b is situated about 20 minutes from the A20 motorway which is great for access and centrally situated for journeys between Caen and south west France.||||What more can be said other than I have just booked 4 nights for our 2 journeys to the south west of...

On arrival didn't five a very welcome took us to room and hearts just sank the room was absoutly disgusting didn't get a sleep whatsoever |Windowsill was covered in dead fly's I washed it down went to shut curtens and 2 spiders fell out o them and absoutly caked in thick white cob webs |Hunners o creepy crawly s about the room and even round about the edge of ceiling to walls was covered in webs and spiders used his towels to wipie them all and fly's had to keep small light on to try attract them away from us suspossed to stay 2 days |But said to him in morning about it and he stood there and bare faced lie and said he Hoover's all round about there every day so wasn't even worth arguing with him and still had the cheek to take payment for the one nite breakfast was stinking to |So we couldn't stay there again and left and went and booked into somewhere clean |I would avoid this...

We stopped at Matt’s b&b on the way up from the south of France. I had seen the comments on the food from previous reviews so we booked dinner as well. Matt was very accommodating of our dietary requirements and created a wonderful three course meal for us and another couple who were also staying. It was worth every penny. There isn’t a menu but give him early warning of major allergies / requirements and let him work his magic!|The rooms are light and airy and very comfy. We both had a great night’s sleep and the breakfast was fantastic too. |The value for money of the meal and the stay is really outstanding and Matt is a a perfect host.
