This small b&b (what we'd call a "chambre d'hôtes" in French) is tucked away in a bucolic village setting. The town is adjacent to Giverny (where Monet's house and gardens are), and on the other side is La Roche-Guyon, on an idyllic part of the Seine River with an interesting castle carved into the limestone cliff. The residence is charming, quiet (except when the finches begin their melodious warbling at 5:30 AM), with beautiful gardens around it, and is next to a field by the bank of the Epte River, a tributary of the Seine. The whole region is lovely, and there are wonderful restaurants in nearby towns. Mme Baduel is an extraordinarily gracious, friendly, and helpful hostess, supplying tips and directions for dining, tourism information, and a couple of discount coupons for restaurants and the castle. The room (we stayed in the "Princess Room," once her daughter's bedroom) was cute and comfortable, with a modern sink and shower. One highlight was an elegant breakfast in the garden, with excellent bread, croissants, homemade jams, wonderful cheeses, etc., for which the charge was half what even bargain hotels charge. This b&b is a remarkable value, and we enjoyed our stay and talking with Mme Baduel so much that we are eager to go back there and explore the area more in a...
Read moreVery convenient location to Giverny although tucked away in a village 5 minutes away from Monet's gardens.. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home by Christiane with a much needed coffee and fresh croissants with home made jam. House is beautiful, set in a lovely garden surround where breakfast is served when weather permits. Parking is a little tight but manageable in the grounds, however plentiful parking on quiet street. WiFi available in rooms although a little difficult at the time we stayed due to revision of passwords. TV, CD player and a full kitchen in the studio make this a great base to visit the surrounding area. Remember to purchase your Monet House and Gardens tickets from Christiane and...

My room had bags of charm; although it wasn't en suite, I believe I had exclusive use of the very big bathroom downstairs which had a lovely big bath. Breakfast was also very enjoyable and Christiane was extremely welcoming.||||The only downside was that the bed was too soft for my taste and not quite big enough. Also, my room had no tv (I don't know about the others) but that didn't bother me at all. In fact a tv would have spoilt the character.||||It loses one star because, despite my enjoyable stay, I wouldn't say that it offered particularly good value for money, at least not for a...
