Liked: This is a clean and well kept site. The restaurant bar area were well stocked and reasonable value for the money, the staff were brilliant and the food was tasty and hot. We were able to order bread and pastries for morning collection but you must order between 4 and 6 and they stick to these times rigidly. The bar garden has a great view of the river and the castle.
The pool area was clean with heated indoor and outdoor facilities. There is east access to the village on a quiet riverside path, and in Les Petit Andeleys there are some charming bakeries and cafes. The site is in agood location for exploring the surrounding area and Giverny is less than 20 minutes away. The toilet and shower block were kept very clean and there was never a need to wait, it’s fabulous that they have hairdryers in them.
Disliked: We paid extra for a riverside pitch but couldn’t see the river due to the overgrown hedges and trees, only a couple of pitches had an actual river view, there were nice and spacious though. The washing up facilities were constantly crowded with the water temperature struggling to make tepid on any given day. On several occasions the sinks were blocked and left full of dirty water. The toilets whilst clean, often had no toilet paper so do make sure you take your own just in case. The showers also had low water temperature, being cold on 2 occasions and a lot of cubicles were missing hooks or anywhere to hang anything. The river is pretty but extremely busy with both river cruise ships and commercial barges, which are very noisy and run from around 0500 until well past midnight. More information about the site, any specials at the restaurant and the surrounding area would have made...
Read moreWe've just arrived back from 3 nights camping here, we used our own tent so can't comment on the rooms. But the pitches are lovely, hedges both sides so you have privacy. Likes others have said they're not flat and could do with the grass cutting but it was fine. Firstly the location is great, it's right next to the river, the kids (and us) loved watching the otters and feeding the ducks every morning. The campsite itself was great for kids, bouncy castle, football pitch, playground and pool. The pool was good but I wouldn't say it felt heated! It rained heavily when we were there and they put the roof over which was great. In terms of cleanliness, the pool and restaurant area was very clean. The toilets had no soap in the entire stay and didn't seem to be cleaned the first day. One downside was the friendliness of the staff, we ate at the restaurant/bar twice and there was only 1 lady who was friendly! Food was lovely though but only served from 6.15pm. Excellent walks nearby with beautiful scenery. They could do with a small convenience shop onsite for milk etc, nearest shop is a walk into the town nearby. Overall we had a lovely time, kids loved playing with others on the site which was great! We'd happily...
Read moreThe first thing to note is the name on Google maps is shown as Camping Normandie. If not in the know this is the name you look for on the signage as you arrive. It's called, Flower Camping l'Ile des Trois Rois and the signs as you approach say Camping l'Ile des Trois Rois. To make it easier to pin point the site access change the name on Google Maps. A large site on the banks of the River Seine with its own swimming pool, restaurant & bar. I didn't use them so I can't make a comment but if I had been given the information about these amenities on arrival such as times of opening I might have been tempted to try, But, nothing said or given as the reception staff were deep in conversation when I arrived; eventually acknowledged, said my name and that I had a resvavation. Back to the conservation! Finished, looked up and gave me the pitch number! Customer first?
The site pitches are of a good size, the Seine Cycle Path is accessed at the entrance of the site, and we enjoyed two days of exploring these cycle ways. The toilet facilities are of a good standard and clean. The water pressure at the standpipes is so slow. But, better pressure at the Motorhome Service area. Excellent location, enjoyed...
